About the role

 

Join the Office of the Chief Financial Officer team as a Specialist, Treasury, where financial foresight and legal insight come together to drive meaningful change in housing affordability. In this role, you’ll provide critical information management and analytical support, contributing to the development and maintenance of financial models. Your insights and recommendations will help guide the effective delivery of key programs that make a real difference in Canadians’ lives.

 

What you'll do:  

 

  • Build and update models with a primary focus on asset/liability matching in accordance with the CMHC’s market risk and liquidity risk frameworks. Ensure its consistency with the model governance framework, and addresses any model vetting recommendations.
  • Explore and proactively adopt innovative methodologies and technologies to continuously improve models, and effectively communicates its impact to various stakeholders.
  • In supporting the Canada Mortgage Bonds (CMB) program, collect pertinent market data from diverse sources and ensure its correctness and availability in a timely manner. Provide frontline support to quickly evolving data analytics needs.
  • Actively engage as a resident IT/data expert by developing custom applications in Excel or other platforms, and providing guidance on information management. Prepare quantitative reports and interprets information based on a sound statistical concept.
  • Develop and implement key performance indicators for Treasury’s activities, and constantly seeks creative ideas for measurable metrics with greater relevance.
  • Collaborate with the cash management analyst to address immediate operational needs, and provide a backup to the role in daily cash management and liquidity monitoring.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal clients primarily in relation to model development and program administration. 

 

What you should have:
  

  • An undergraduate degree in Finance, Computer Science, Economics, Business, Statistics, Mathematics or any other related quantitative fields. 
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in finance, treasury operations, or financial modeling, demonstrating a strong track record of analytical and technical expertise.
  • A strong understanding of the capital markets and the economic environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with programming in VBA. 
  • An ability to research and synthesize information from a variety of sources and make recommendations.
  • A strong attention to detail and ability to multitask to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
     

It would be great if you also had:  
 

  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and/or Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designations will be considered strong assets.
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as SQL, Python and R will be considered as an asset.
  • Knowledge of data science and/or information management will be considered as an asset.
