Who we are looking for

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Data Analytics & Insights, Assistance Vice President to join our global Audit Digital, Analytics and Innovation team. You will be responsible for the implementation of analytics data products that support audit planning and execution driving data-based auditing for greater impact and efficiency. As a key component of the strategy for continuous improvement in Corporate Audit, the data analytics & insights team provides analytics-based services and solutions in support of Corporate Audit’s independent risk assessment and assurance work. In addition, the team advises and provides tools, dashboards and analysis that can be leveraged to manage the Corporate Audit Department.  The role will be located in Toronto, Canada.

What you will be responsible for

As Data Analytics & Insights, Assistance Vice President, you will

  • Work as part of an international team, collaborating closely with global peers in corporate audit.
  • Design, coordinate, and implement data analytic solutions to support audit and innovation initiatives within the planning, assessment, and reporting phases of audits and validation activities.
  • Advise Corporate Audit stakeholders on data analytic options to address their specific needs, including discussing potential analytical approaches to problems, associated costs and trade-offs, and recommendations.
  • Contribute to the timely execution of innovative analytics-based and process automation solution development within audits and validation activities to advance insight-driven assurance and visualization of results and quantitative analytics.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of risks, changes in the regulatory environment, and innovative assurance approaches.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across the organization.
  • Communicate audit progress and findings effectively to senior management.
  • Prepare and review audit work papers to ensure compliance with the division’s audit methodology.

  • Experience leading and supervising audit projects, preferably within the global financial services industry.
  • Proficiency in evaluating risks and testing internal controls while applying risk-based testing approaches.

  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, organizational, and presentation skills.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership ability across all levels coupled with effective problem solving, conceptual thinking, quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, and technical writing skills.
  • Advanced project management skills.
  • Fluency in English - written and spoken.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field, and statistics, data science, MIS, engineering, or math.
  • 5+ years of analytics and/or reporting development experience using tools or languages such as SAS, SQL, Tableau, R or Python to develop client analytics solutions.
  • Audit or assurance experience working in the banking or financial services industry or other regulated industries.
  • Experience in machine learning models and big data.
  • Advanced understanding of data processes and controls, associated risks, data governance models.
  • Proven track record of continuous improvement.
  • Exposure to Big Data Initiatives such as Hadoop, Hive, Cloudera, or large data warehousing initiatives.
