Daikin Applied is seeking a talented Sr Business Analyst – Data Products. The Sr Business Analyst – Data Products will work directly with business stakeholders and technical teams, including engineering, operations and data/analyst groups. This role is responsible for driving the end-to-end lifecycle of data product development – from requirements gathering and user story documentation to process mapping, data flow design, testing, training & Implementation.

 

This role requires a blended skill set that combines the strengths of both business analysts (BAs) and Data Analysts (DAs). You will translate business needs into data driven solutions, bridge between stakeholders and data team, ensuring that data product deliver real business value. Location: Plymouth, MN - Hybrid

 

What you will do: 

Requirements Gathering & Analysis

  • Work with stakeholders to understand data needs and translate them into user stories or product requirements
  • Translate business requirements into detailed user stories, acceptance criteria and data product specifications
  • Collaborate with data engineering & architects to design scalable data solutions and data flows
  • Responsible for leading, as well as, participating in cross-functional business projects

Process Mapping & Data Flow modeling

  • Understand and document workflows where data is produced and consumed
  • Create process maps, data flow diagrams & systems interaction models to visualize current & future states
  • Identify gaps, inefficiencies and opportunitis for automation or enhancements

Project Execution, Delivery & Support

  • Support Agile processes – sprint planning, backlog grooming, etc.
  • Track progress of data product development and ensure alignment with business timelines and priorities
  • Develop high level test plans and partner with QA team to ensure data product functionality & data accuracy is optimal
  • Support change management efforts to ensure smooth adoption of new data products
  • Monitor performance & usage of data products post-implementation
  • Identify opportunities for enhancemens & support ongoing maintenance & optimization

Stekholder Communication & Reporting

  • Serve as a liaison between business units and technical teams, ensuring clear and consistent communication
  • Provide regular updates, dashboards & reports on project status, risks & outcomes (as required)
  • Provide subject matter expertise for business customers and technical resources
  • Establishes awareness of business process and technology solution best practices with Finance and Operations

Problem Solving & Critical Thinking

  • Evaluate competing needs, define metrics & clarify ambiguous request
  • Able to provide high level analysis using data for ROI KPIs and impact analysis
  • May mentor and provide guidance to junior members of the team
  • May perform other duties of product development as assigned

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science or a related field or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years of demonstrated experience in Data analysis, IT Business analysis, or a similar field
  • Strong data requirements gathering and documenting skill – User Stories, etc.
  • Familiarity with the end to end lifecycle of data products – from ideation and design to deployment and Iteration
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity in a productive and positive manner by bringing the appropriate stakeholders together to gain clarity and consensus for next steps
  • Experience working with cross-functional global teams, including product managers, engineers and business stakeholders
  • Strong commitments to data accuracy, quality and continuous improvements to data product solutions
  • Proficient in data analysis and exploration using SQL, Excel, Power Bi or similar tools.
  • Understanding of DeltaLake, Unity Catalog & Databricks workflows
  • Understanding of data ingestion, transformation and orchestration
  • Experience with Azure ADO or equivalent tools
  • Experience with MS products (word, ppt, excel, etc..)
  • Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position

  Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science or a related field or equivalent experience
  • 6+ years of demonstrated experience in Data analysis, IT Business analysis, or a similar field
  • Experience with ERP systems like Oracle EBS & SAP
  • Experience with CRM systems Salesforce
  • Awareness of data governance and security models in Databricks.
  • Familiarity with Lakehouse Architecture
  • Familiarity of Product lifecycle
  • Certification in Business Analysis, Agile practices a plus
  • Proficient in advance analytics skills for data Manipulation using Python, R

The typical annual base salary for this position ranges from $90,000 - $148,800 (+ 10-15% bonus) in Minnesota. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
