Job Summary:

Surescripts’ Data and Analytics (D&A) department was established to transform Surescripts into a data-driven, growth-oriented organization that leverages unique data assets and best-in-class research, analytics and insights to optimize business decisions, enhance customer value, and deliver innovative products and services to the market to help healthcare ​heal itself. D&A’s technical capabilities sit within its Data Core function, with the mandate to deliver next-gen Data Architecture, Database Engineering, Cloud Data Engineering and Quality, Data Science and Business Insights. Data Core’s North Star is to enable authentic intelligence and knowledge across the full American healthcare ecosystem using Surescripts’ unique and trusted assets, and drive 10x value for internal and external customers over the next five years.

The Director, Technical Data Product Owner, partners with product and analytics experts to ensure that product feature requirements are accurately translated for technical teams, ensuring seamless communication between internal stakeholders within Data Core and Surescripts’ broader Data & Analytics team, as well as cross-functionally with Network Technology and Operations. Additionally, this role will collaborate with Data Product Management to prioritize new features/functionality in the backlog and ensure adherence to Data Core’s operational processes. This role will involve strategic collaboration, hands-on release planning execution, and operational leadership, ensuring that our data products meet both organizational goals and stakeholder needs. The incumbent possesses a strong technical background and the ability to collaborate with diverse technical teams to deliver cutting-edge data products.

Responsibilities:
  • Domain and Technical Expertise: Demonstrated deep knowledge of Data Core’s different technical communities of practice and roles, and a solid understanding of Data Core’s operating principles, ways of working and solution architecture.

  • Technical Product Requirements: Partner with experts to translate commercial, security, and compliance requirements and user stories into clear technical requirements, artifacts, and acceptance criteria for the Data Core product development team. Collaborate with Data Core’s leadership team to streamline and optimize internal data product development processes and handoffs.

  • Data Product Delivery: Ensure timely delivery of key product releases aligned with the Data Product Management team through cross-collaboration with various Data Core communities of practice. Own the data product technical lifecycle, including maintenance and feature refinement based on feedback and evolving commercial, security, and compliance requirements.

  • Documentation: Collect, collate, standardize, and enhance technical data product documentation of features, processes, and technologies for technical and non-technical audiences. Prepare and deliver decks, reports, metrics, recommendations, and other resources to stakeholders and executives. Support required Enterprise PMO activities.

  • Stakeholder Communication and Collaboration: Act as the bridge between different Data Core communities of practice, field staff, partners, and development teams to ensure appropriate work-flow hand-offs.

  • Risk and Issue Management: Identify potential technical risks and work proactively with the Data Core product development team to mitigate them while ensuring smooth product delivery and compliance.

  • Innovation: Stay abreast of emerging technologies, tools, and methodologies in data management and analytics, recommending and integrating them to enhance product capabilities. Identify opportunities to enhance products, improve operational processes, and drive overall efficiency

Qualifications:

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science/Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field

  • 10+ years of experience managing technical data products or platforms, ideally within healthcare

  • 5+ years in a technical leadership capacity, managing small teams of highly technical resources

  • Proven ability to translate business needs into technical solutions and deliver results in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong understanding of data management principles, data warehouses, and data integration techniques

  • Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC)

  • Experience with Agile methodologies and tools such as Jira

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen eye for detail

  • Experience with project management methodologies and tools

  • Exceptional collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams

  • Ability to condense complex technical information into concise business-friendly language

  • Demonstrated capacity to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science/Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field

  • Experience in designing or developing data & analytical solutions in the healthcare IT field

  • Change management experience in a technology setting

  • Experience in industry standards such as NCPDP, X12, HL7, FHIR

  • Experience with data visualization and analytical techniques

  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform is a huge plus

  • Knowledge of data governance, privacy and legal compliance, cyber security, and best practices in Responsible AI

At Surescripts, base pay is one part of our Total Rewards Package (which may also include bonus, benefits etc.) and is determined within a range. The base pay range for this position is $211,850 - $258,950 per year. Your base pay may vary within or outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including (but not limited to) your qualifications, skills, experience, and location.
