Within CIBC Global Markets, the Alternate Solutions Group was launched in 2013 with a mandate to develop innovative and creative technology-driven capital markets solutions. This group is an unconventional capital markets organization that combines the innovative spirit and agility of a FinTech startup with the financial strength and strong governance protocol of a major financial institution. ASG has been recognized as a global leader in providing disruptive technological capital markets solutions in several product areas including Cross Border Payments, Dynamic Currency Conversion, Multi-currency pre-paid cards, Foreign Cash & Precious Metals Online and white labeling thereof. ASGās client base stretches from some of the largest banks in the world, to corporates to CIBCās retail clients.
We are hiring a Data Analyst on the Data Science team within Conversion Services. This role will deliver transformational data capabilities to support business users and enable data-driven growth.

How Youāll Succeed
Data Collection & Analysis: You will collect, clean, and analyze data from a variety of sources to support our business objectives. You will play an active part in ensuring data quality through regular checks and thorough documentation. Additionally, you will support ad-hoc data requests and projects as needed, contributing to a collaborative and responsive team environment.
Data Processing & Modeling: You will develop and maintain Python scripts to support data processing, analytics, and modeling activities. You will also build and deploy machine learning modelsāsuch as regression, time-series, and classification modelsāto deliver predictive insights that drive value for our business groups.
Data Visualization & Reporting: You will create clear and compelling data visualizations and dashboards using tools such as Power BI or Python libraries like Plotly Dash and Seaborn. In addition, you will assist in preparing reports and presentations for stakeholders, helping to communicate insights and support informed decision-making across the organization.
Collaboration & Growth: You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data needs and deliver actionable insights that drive business outcomes. Working closely with senior data scientists, you will help develop and deliver transformational data analytics projects. Throughout your role, you will be encouraged to continuously learn and apply new analytical techniques and technologies, ensuring you stay at the forefront of industry advancements.
Who You Are
You have 1-2 years of experience working in data science, data analytics or in a similar role.
You have a Bachelorās / Masterās degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
You have advanced knowledge and demonstrated experience working with Python for data analysis, engineering, and manipulation (e.g., pandas, numpy, scipy).
You have practical exposure to common machine learning models and packages (e.g., sklearn, xgboost, lightGBM, pycaret, ARIMA).
You are experienced with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) or Python visualization libraries (e.g., Plotly Dash, Seaborn).
You give meaning to data. You excel at uncovering insights from data, investigating complex problems, and transforming information into meaningful, actionable recommendations. You can communicate complex ideas in simple terms to senior business leaders and non-technical audiences.
