We are looking for an AI Engineering Director to join our team and lead the development of our AI-driven applications and platforms. 

Job Summary

We are seeking an AI Engineering Director with expertise in software development and demonstrated successful leadership to join our AI team. You will be responsible for managing, designing, implementing, and deploying state-of-the-art AI-powered products. Working closely with cloud, data, machine learning engineers, as well as frontend, backend engineers, designers, and product managers, you will create AI-driven applications that have a direct impact on our business. 

This role requires a strong vision in the future of AI, excellent leadership and management skills, and extensive knowledge of development tools and cycles. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities may shift, and be willing to propose, own, prioritize, staff problems and solutions end-to-end. 

Primary Job Responsibilities

• Prioritization of hiring efforts to focus on areas of most need and quickly recruit top engineering talent
• Motivate and communicate across multiple levels of departments
• Have successful peer partnerships with other department leaders in Engineering, and cross-functionally (Product Management, sales, operations, etc)
• Standardize the development process where needed, allow local differences where advantageous
• Structure, staff, and maintain a high-performing organization that is resourced appropriately and cost-effectively
• Lead the development and implementation of GenAI-based, copilot, and voice products for the CX industry.
• Steer very technical profiles, senior managers, to work collectively towards common team and business goals
• Prioritize technical debt at the organizational level, identifying risks, and balancing short-term delivery with long-term system health
• Working in agile methodologies, with a focus on optimizing overall organizational velocity and execution against business goals
• Ensure continuous compliance and security of all developed products  

Skills/Abilities/Knowledge

• Expertise in Gitlab and its CI/CD tools
• Strong programming skills in Python
• Expertise in web application, server-side architecture, and RESTful APIs 
• Good knowledge of cloud computing platforms, especially AWS and Azure
• Utmost attention to security best practices and implementations
• Experience in multi-region software deployment and segregation
• Familiarity with Machine Learning model training and inference, especially LLMs
• A continuous learning mindset to stay up-to-date with evolving web and cloud technologies
• Demonstrated ability to maintain complex, secure, and scalable engineering platforms with high availability
• Experience in the CX or BPO industry is a plus. 

Leadership

• Expertise in hiring managers, highly skilled and experienced engineers 
• Ability to coordinate complex technical projects that span multiple teams, while providing high-level progress updates in clear, business-friendly terms

• Willing to own important problems end-to-end, but also have good delegation skills and are willing to pick up whatever knowledge you're missing to get the job done.

Experience

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in the technology industry with a focus on cloud architecture and machine learning 
• Demonstrate longevity at at least one recent job
• Proven track record of developing and launching successful AI or voice products.
• Experience managing and engaging engineers at a remote-only company in an agile environment 

Education

• Master’s degree or more in computer science or related field. 

Languages

• Excellent conversational and written knowledge in English (C1 level minimum).
• French and Spanish language skills are a bonus.
