About Seymour Whyte

We are a successful civil contracting business who has been operating in Australia for over 35 years. With the agility and personal connection of a Tier 2, yet the expertise of a Tier 1, and the enhanced resources of one of the largest, world-class construction companies, VINCI, our employees and clients get the best of three worlds.

As a progressive, leading civil engineering firm built on the strong foundations of our unique history, we engage, enable and empower our people to be better. With you, we are altogether stronger, in building the future we want.

How you’ll make an impact:

  • Design and manage spatial data systems using ArcGIS, QGIS, PostGIS, and related technologies.
  • Automate geospatial workflows with Python, R, FME, SQL, and PySpark.
  • Integrate spatial data into Power BI for interactive project reporting.
  • Analyse cadastral and topographic data to support planning and engineering.
  • Build and document reusable ETL components and geospatial APIs.
  • Collaborate with engineers and planners to align GIS outputs with project needs.
  • Use a mix of open-source and enterprise tools across cloud and on-prem environments.

Your key qualities:

  • Academic background in Geomatics, Geoinformation, Cadastral/Geodetic Engineering, or related disciplines.
  • Hands-on experience in spatial data analysis, automation, and integration within construction, utilities, or cadastral projects.
  • Demonstrated skill in working with open-source GIS tools, scripting environments, and cloud data platforms.
  • Strong understanding of data modelling, version control, and scalable infrastructure for geospatial data.
  • An ability to design end-to-end solutions from data acquisition and validation to reporting and decision support.
  • Prior exposure to cadastral or land management systems, with a focus on analytics rather than just map production.

What’s in it for you:

  • Health & Wellbeing: discounted health insurance, EAP, wellness perks
  • Time for Life: birthday leave, paid parental leave, purchased leave options
  • Financial Wellbeing: Annually reviewed salary, bonuses, employee share program
  • Career Growth: training, leadership pathways, competency frameworks

Many of our projects are located in some regional and hard to access areas with limited or no public transport, so all applicants must hold a current Driver’s Licence and have their own transport.

Seymour Whyte is an Equal Opportunity Employer and we encourage applications from candidates with diverse backgrounds, including veterans. Our commitment to an equitable construction industry extends to an inclusive culture that embraces our differences and gives everyone the opportunity to grow and be equally valued. We're unified in our direction to having a workplace that is balanced and fair for all.

There has never been a more exciting time to join Seymour Whyte and contribute to a successful and sustainable future.
