We’re looking for an experienced and analytical Economist to join our Canadian team, delivering data-driven insights that shape impactful strategies for our clients. This role operates at the intersection of economic research, strategic advisory, and implementation, applying advanced modeling and rigorous analysis to help solve complex public and private sector challenges. Ideal candidates are driven by evidence, confident navigating ambiguity, and eager to contribute to projects that influence policy, investment, and economic outcomes across Canada.

Responsibilities

 

What You’ll Do

  • Economic Modeling & ForecastingBuild and run econometric models using multiple data sources and indicators. Leverage tools such as R, Python, STATA to complete forecasting, scenario analysis, and input-output modeling.

  • Data Analysis & VisualizationClean, code, and analyze data using advanced quantitative techniques such as regression analysis, causal inference, difference-in-differences, and propensity score matching. Develop clear visualizations and translate data into actionable insights.

  • ROI & Impact AnalysisQuantify the economic impacts of programs, policies, and investments. Conduct cost-benefit analyses and ROI modeling, and apply impact evaluation frameworks to guide evidence-based recommendations aligned with client goals.

  • Economic & Market ResearchConduct secondary research to monitor key indicators and market trends, and generate original insights. Support primary research through interviews, workshops, and roundtables with stakeholders.

  • Technical Writing & CommunicationProduce high-quality research reports, strategy documents, and briefing materials. Clearly communicate economic findings in accessible language for clients, policymakers, and cross-functional teams.

  • Stakeholder EngagementCollaborate with clients, senior industry leaders, policymakers, and subject-matter experts to validate research, test assumptions, and align deliverables with real-world priorities. Deliver compelling presentations that inform and influence.

  • Team CollaborationWork closely with interdisciplinary teams across geographies and time zones. Leverage technical expertise across the organization to develop strong, collaborative, and impactful deliverables.

  • Business Development SupportContribute to pre-sales efforts by identifying opportunities that align with the firm’s advisory services and software development capabilities.

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of experience in economic research, consulting, or data analytics

  • Academic background in economics, statistics, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)

  • Demonstrated ability to build, validate, and interpret econometric models

  • Proficiency in R, Python, STATA, or similar data tools

  • Experience producing economic forecasts and conducting scenario-based analysis

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex findings to diverse audiences

  • Subject-matter knowledge in one or more of the following:Technology and digital transformation, macroeconomics, economic development, labour markets, or public policy

  • Experience with cost-benefit analysis and ROI modeling

  • Ability to work through complexity and deliver high-quality results in fast-paced environments

  • Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail

  • Experience working with public sector clients and familiarity with government processes (strong asset)

  • Experience with program and policy design or evaluation (strong asset)

  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Datawrapper (strong asset)

  • OCAP certification (strong asset)
