We are seeking a Scrum Master to join our team in supporting the modernization initiatives of our DHS Customs and Border Protection client. The ideal candidate excels at facilitating Agile ceremonies, removing impediments, and nurturing high-performing teams in the context of mission-critical federal modernization initiatives.

*This position is contingent upon contract award

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate Scrum Ceremonies: Lead daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives, ensuring active participation and focus on value delivery.
  • Coach Agile Practices: Guide the team and stakeholders on Scrum principles, fostering a collaborative, transparent, and self-organizing culture.
  • Remove Impediments: Identify, track, and resolve roadblocks hindering progress, proactively collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support Product Owner: Assist with backlog refinement, user story definition, and prioritization to align with business objectives and CBP mission needs.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Encourage feedback, monitor team performance, and implement process enhancements to improve delivery and team health.
  • Maintain Metrics: Track sprint progress, team velocity, and other Agile KPIs, providing clear reporting to leadership and project stakeholders.
  • Enable Cross-Team Collaboration: Liaise with other teams and program-level roles (e.g., Release Train Engineer, DevSecOps, Full Stack Developers) to address dependencies and align objectives.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Scaled Agile (SAFe) environments.
  • Exposure to CI/CD, DevSecOps, or MLOps environments.

Work Experience:

  • 3 to 5 years of experience involving Information Technology and related systems
  • 3 to 5 years of Scrum Master experience leading both Scrum and Agile teams
  • Experience working in SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) methodology
  • Demonstrated experience of Scrum/Kanban frameworks
  • Experience with agile methodologies, including ceremonies and performance metrics
  • Experience in planning at the Sprint, release and Program Increment (PI) levels
  • Experience with JIRA/Confluence

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree is required. Preferred field of study in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Operations Management or highly related field of study

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations:

  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) highly desired
  • Project Management Professional Certification (PMP) desired
  • Current professional certification in Agile Methodologies (RTE, Scrum Master) desired

Communication Skills:

  • Solid ability to interface, inspire and motivate at various levels of the organization.
  • Ability to convey technical information to non-technical individuals.
  • Demonstrated experience communicating effectively across internal and external organizations.
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills to communicate with external and internal stakeholders effectively

Travel:

  • Local

Environmental Requirements:

  • Mainly sedentary; in an office environment.
  • May be required to lift up to ten (10) pounds
  • Flexible in working extended hours
