Job Description

Smart home devices are making people’s lives at home easier and more comfortable. With an increasing number of devices from various manufacturers, it is necessary to make configuration and control as easy as possible. This can be achieved by a configuration software that is aware of all devices and their functions. As the current system only allows manually defined automations, an important next step is the automated configuration via natural language inputs.

  • Your thesis aims at the development of a proof of concept (PoC) that uses a natural language processing system (e.g., LLM) to process user input commands for (re-)configuring (new) devices.
  • It should cover, but is not limited to, researching relevant literature on the topic of structured data generation using Large Language Models (LLMs).
  • You will define metrics that can reliably capture the performance of the system.
  • Last but not least, you will implement and optimize an LLM-based solution as a PoC.

Qualifications

  • Education: Master studies in the field of Computer Science, Software Engineering or comparable
  • Experience and Knowledge: profound knowledge of Machine Learning and programming in Python; experience with the usage of compute clusters
  • Personality and Working Practice: you excel at working autonomously, systematically organizing your tasks, and applying analytical thinking to solve complex problems
  • Languages: proficient in English
