Institutional Effectiveness Analyst 

 

Position: Western Colorado University welcomes applications for the full-time position of Institutional Effective Analyst, who will report to the Director of the Office of Intuitional Effectiveness and Planning and join a collaborative remote team of colleagues.  The vision of the office is to be a transformative force at Western Colorado University that drives excellence and innovation in liberal arts higher education by fostering a culture of evidence-based decision-making, accountability, and proactive strategic management. While this position has a remote option, candidates are welcome to join the local Western community and work on campus.  

Responsibilities:  The Institutional Effectiveness Analyst supports institutional planning, decision-making, and compliance by collecting, cleaning/validating, analyzing, and reporting data related to student outcomes, enrollment trends, academic programs, and strategic initiatives. This position supports surveys, research projects, and strategic planning by creating reports, dashboards, and data visualizations using tools like Excel, Power BI, and Workday. This role offers hands-on experience with institutional databases, reporting tools, and research methodologies in a collaborative and mission-driven environment.   

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Statistics or related field.  Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, PowerBI and basic programming languages (e.g. R, Python or SQL). Strong quantitative and analytical skills, written and oral skills, ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences, detail-oriented with strong organizational skills. Experience with creating and/or managing databases.  

Preferred Qualifications: M.S. Degree in Data Analytics. Experience with SQL, Tableau, Power BI, or other data visualization tools. Knowledge of institutional research processes or experience in higher education setting, understanding of data governance and FERPA compliance. Experience with creating and/or managing interactive data dashboards.  Working with collaborative and archival databases.   A minimum of a year of higher education administrative experience.  

Compensation: $55,000 - $65,000 annually.  This position is FLSA exempt.  Western offers an excellent benefits package including shared premiums for a comprehensive health insurance plan, dental insurance, retirement plan, life insurance, and other insurance options. After one year of employment, Western provides free tuition for dependents enrolled full time in undergraduate programs for up to four years.
