As a content-driven technology company, Thomson Reuters operates in a uniquely complex and regulated environment. We are reimagining how we manage risk and compliance, moving away from traditional processes and toward intelligent, automated systems.

This is a unique opportunity to be a foundational engineer within the risk and compliance team. We are looking for a hands-on builder who is passionate about using AI and automation to solve complex problems. You will not be just maintaining systems or checking boxes; you will be architecting and creating the core tools that will help our entire organization innovate more safely and effectively. Your work will have a direct and visible impact on the business.

About the Role:

  • Build AI-Powered Solutions: Design, code, and deploy intelligent workflows and autonomous agents to automate risk detection and analysis. You'll work with technologies like LLMs to turn unstructured data (eg. regulatory documents) into actionable insights.

  • Solve Business Problems with Code: Collaborate directly with risk and compliance experts to understand their core processes and challenges, then design and build the end-to-end technical solutions that reimagine and solve them.

  • Drive Innovation and Experimentation: Proactively explore, prototype, and implement cutting-edge technologies. You'll have the autonomy to experiment with the latest AI frameworks and tools to find novel solutions to our business challenges.

  • Own and Scale Your Work: Take full ownership of your projects, from the initial concept and architecture through to deployment and continuous improvement, ensuring your solutions are scalable and robust.

About You:

We are looking for a curious problem-solver who is eager to build.  A strong foundation in software development is essential. Your hands-on experience and relevant projects in AI/ML are just as important to us as your formal professional history.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Hands-on Development: Proficiency in a modern programming language like Python or Java, with experience building and shipping applications or automation scripts.

  • AI & Machine Learning Interest: Demonstrable experience or a strong personal interest in AI/ML. You've likely experimented with LLMs, AI agents, or related frameworks (either professionally or on personal projects).

  • Problem-Solving Mindset: You are an analytical thinker who can break down complex, ambiguous problems into manageable technical steps.

  • Strong Communication: You can clearly explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical partners.

  • Analytical Thinking: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyse complex systems and processes.

  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Leadership: Proven ability to take initiative and drive initiatives from concept to implementation.

  • Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment with the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
