Position Summary...

Walmart Connect is key to Walmart’s growth strategy. Walmart has built a multibillion billion dollar closed loop, in-house advertising business that is a robust, true omnichannel, media services division with WMC. We partner closely with brands on strategies and solutions that harness Walmart’s unparalleled omnichannel influence. We deliver relevant retail ads and experiences that connect our customers with the brands and products they love. And we use Walmart’s proprietary online and in-store data, encompassing 95% of American households, to measure campaign-correlated sales on our site and in our stores.

About the role:

A passionate and innovative leader with deep expertise in media analytics and measurement. We are seeking a Staff Research Data Scientist to shape the future of our organization through data driven insights with solid methodology foundation.

What you'll do...

Responsibilities

· Lead research initiatives on advertiser and user behavior by designing and scaling causal inference frameworks (e.g., A/B testing, geo tests, synthetic controls, uplift modeling) to measure the impact and incrementality of ad products across multiple channels (display, search, CTV, and programmatic)

· Develop advanced modeling solutions – including econometric models, predictive ML (propensity, LTV, bidding) – to optimize campaign performance and marketplace efficiency.

· Influence product and business strategy by partnering with Product, Engineering, Product Marketing, and Sales to translate research insights into product improvements and marketplace innovations.

· Mentor data scientists and cross-functional partners by establishing best practices for experimentation, statistical modeling, and machine learning, ensuring scalable, scientifically rigorous approaches to Ads measurement and optimization.

· Serve as a measurement thought leader, advancing methodologies in media mix modeling, attribution, and lift studies for online and offline channels, while staying ahead of industry and ad tech trends.

· Design experiments for complex Search and Display marketing scenarios, building robust inference models and validating causal effects.

· Mentor and upskill data scientists and partners by establishing best practices for experimentation, statistical modeling, and scalable ML solutions.

· Perform hands-on analysis and modeling using SQL and Python, and present insights with clear, compelling narratives that connect technical results to business outcomes.

· Optimize media effectiveness by enhancing models to quantify marketing impact and guide budget allocation decisions.

· Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate research-driven solutions into scalable, production-ready data science systems.

Minimum Qualifications

· 7+ years of relevant industry experience in positions with a focus on data science, machine learning, measurement, marketing strategy & analytics.

· Experienced in building causal inference models and developing test designs for complex test scenarios.

· Proficient coding skills (Python/SQL), data visualization and database knowledge.

· Extensive experience with predictive and machine learning modeling algorithms.

· Strong communication skills to tell-a-story that provides insight into the business.

· Strong project management skills, including managing technical resources and multiple priorities & milestones.

· Proven experience and a passion for working in a fast-paced agile environment.

· A collaborative mindset and sense of curiosity.

· Master's degree in Statistics, Economics, Data Science, Operations Research, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

· PhD degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, Operations Research, or related field.

· Experience with complete online and in-store media tactics portfolio.

· Experience with advertising technology platforms eCommerce, Ad servers, DSPs, DMPs, etc.
