Job Description:

 

Iron EagleX is seeking a skilled Senior Data Scientist to support a high-profile engagement with the Office of the Secretary of Defense’s Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office (CDAO). This role will contribute to efforts to develop high-impact assessments for senior policymakers using data-driven analyses and key findings.

 

The Data Scientist will be responsible for delivering data-driven analytics and key insights, visualizing data, and making sense of a variety of data sources to answer customers’ key requirements and mission priorities. This person will expertly interpret and analyze complex sets of data and apply advanced analytics, AI/ML techniques, and domain-relevant modeling to distill complex data into key findings. This person will leverage multiple methodologies such as data mining, Natural Language Processing, spatio-temporal models, and Machine Learning models.

 

Location: Arlington, VA

 

This position is contingent upon the award of an OSD CDAO contract. Work is expected to begin in Mid-August 2025.

 

Job Duties Include (but not limited to):

  • Design and deploy sophisticated Machine Learning models, including Natural Language Processing, computer vision, time-series forecasting, and anomaly detection to support data-driven analyses and strategic assessments
  • Conduct end-to-end data science workflows on structured and unstructured data sources and automate processes to improve data exploitation and support analytic workflows
  • Build and iterate on models in secure cloud environments using platforms like Databricks
  • Work with other technical team members to translate national security requirements into technical workplans and deliver high-impact assessments to key stakeholders using effective visualizations, dashboards, and briefing materials
  • Leverage data to provide new insights into strategic problems
  • Use frameworks such as Spark and Hadoop to conduct large-scale data processing
  • Perform statistical modeling and create compelling data visualizations using products like Tableau, Microsoft Power BI, and R Shiny
  • Research, design, and implement algorithms to solve complex problems
  • Program using R, Python (NumPy, SciPy, Pandas) or similar analytical languages
  • Perform data engineering, data processing, and modeling techniques using cloud-based data management, data science, and ML platforms such as Databricks, IBM Cloud Pak, Cloudera, and Snowflake
  • Communicate complex concepts and hypothesis to a non-technical audience

 

Qualifications

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 7+ years as a Data Scientist
  • Able to work on site 5 days/week
  • Strong background in statistics
  • Experience using Databricks
  • Expertise in delivering data-driven insights to senior military or government customers
  • Experience in programming / scripting languages: R, Python, MATLAB
  • Experience working with large data sets and with distributed computing technologies
  • Ability to communicate data analysis results in a clear and concise manner to a variety of technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Must be able to define and document appropriate advanced analytic methods, predictive analysis, pattern analysis, and the like
  • Unit testing and associated frameworks
  • Ability to conduct independent research in new domains
  • Due to US Government Contract Requirements, only US Citizens are eligible for this role.

Desired Skills:

  • ML-Flow experience
  • Experience working with the Department of Defense
  • Familiarity with the CDAO’s mission and Advana Platform

Education & Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s in Information Technology, Computer Science, Statistics, or related field or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience desired
  • Certificate in Data Analysis or other relevant experience or training

Security Clearance: 

  • An active Top Secret/SCI clearance is required
