Job Description
What youâll do:Â
This is your opportunity as the Data Analyst to play an instrumental role in the ongoing review and evolution of our vehicle pricing practices. You will also support a wide variety of initiatives around existing and future RedBook data services, as well as being a key contributor to ad hoc project and consulting work.Â
- Write and optimise SQL queries and work with APIs to extract, manipulate, and integrate data from diverse and often complex sources, including hands-on data wrangling from internal and external systems.
- Build and own end-to-end dashboards and data visualisations for both internal teams and external customers â from gathering requirements and defining metrics to designing intuitive layouts and deploying production-ready dashboards.
- Work closely with both internal stakeholders and external clients to understand business needs and translate them into actionable data insights, ensuring dashboards and reports are clear, accessible, and impactful for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Apply advanced statistical modelling and data analysis techniques to uncover meaningful patterns, trends, and insightsâparticularly in the areas of vehicle pricing and residual value forecasting.
- Design and manage data pipelines and workflows that automate data extraction, transformation, validation, and delivery, ensuring high data quality and reliability for decision-making.
- Become a subject matter expert on RedBookâs vehicle pricing, identification, and specification datasets and services, as well as the broader new and used vehicle market, with a focus on current and future vehicle values.
Qualifications
What are we looking for?Â
- Proficiency in SQL (ideally with SQL Server & Postgres) and experience working with APIs for data integration.
- Experience with programming languages such as Python or R, with knowledge of popular libraries for data ingestion, manipulation, and visualisation.
- Demonstrated experience in building dashboards and visual analytics solutions end-to-end, from gathering requirements and data modelling to creating polished, user-friendly dashboards in tools like Tableau, Power BI, or similar.
- Strong ability to engage stakeholders to understand their needs and deliver data products that drive insights and decisions.
- Experience developing predictive models, valuation tools, or risk models to forecast trends; residual value forecasting or asset valuation experience is highly desirable.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to translate complex datasets into meaningful insights.
- Prior exposure to the automotive industry or an understanding of vehicle financing, sales operations, and new/used market dynamics is advantageous.
