Summary:
Anaconda is a fully remote company, but this specific role is hybrid due to its responsibility for in-office systems and infrastructure. The IT Senior Systems Engineer must be based in Austin, TX, with a requirement to work from the Austin office at least one day per week.
This role will serve as a senior technical leader within the IT team, responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the infrastructure that supports Anaconda’s global, remote workforce and rapidly growing technology stack. It will play a foundational role in enterprise AI transformation, security maturity, and IT scalability through automation and strategic tooling.
The Sr. Systems Engineer will report to the Sr. Manager of IT and will be expected to take end-to-end ownership of implementation projects, from discovery and stakeholder alignment to delivery and operationalization. This requires strong technical acumen as well as the ability to work cross-functionally, understand business and strategic priorities, and translate them into secure, maintainable, and scalable systems. For broader initiatives or those with organization-wide impact, the Sr. Systems Engineer will also take architectural and strategic guidance from Principal and Staff-level engineers to ensure alignment with Anaconda’s long-term technical direction.
What You'll Do:
- Lead the delivery of infrastructure and tooling projects from initial concept through implementation, including stakeholder engagement, technical planning, and execution.
- Architect and implement automation workflows, identity systems, and integrations that reduce operational overhead and improve IT’s ability to scale.
- Build and support the infrastructure required to deploy and maintain internal AI-agentic tooling, ensuring reliability, security, and business alignment.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Security, Finance, Operations) to understand business requirements and translate them into actionable technical solutions.
- Execute priority security initiatives,the infrastructure required to deploy and maintain internal AI-agentic including Okta Identity Governance, device compliance policies, zero trust infrastructure, and Shadow IT monitoring.
- Evaluate, implement, and manage enterprise SaaS tools with attention to lifecycle management, RBAC, integration quality, and compliance.
- Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code, policy-as-code, and technical documentation across IT-managed platforms (e.g., Okta, Kandji, Google Workspace, Slack).
- Act as a Tier 3 escalation point for complex issues; coach junior team members through documentation, pair sessions, and design reviews.
- Support and maintain Austin office infrastructure including hardware inventory, network resilience, and physical access systems.
What You Need:
- 5+ years in a senior systems, infrastructure, or automation engineering role.
- Located in Austin, TX, with the ability to be onsite at least once per week.
- Proven experience taking ownership of technical initiatives from idea to implementation.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills; able to balance business needs, user experience, and technical integrity.
- Deep experience with Okta, MDM platforms (Kandji preferred), endpoint security, and SaaS governance.
- Proficient in scripting (e.g., Python, Bash) and familiar with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Pulumi.
- Exposure to enterprise AI infrastructure or agentic tooling environments is a plus.

The base salary range for this role is $106,500- $138,000 for other US-based team members, along with annual bonus potential, equity participation, and benefits. The IT Senior Systems Engineer must be based in Austin, TX, with a requirement to work from the Austin office at least one day per week.

Within the range, individual compensation is determined by various factors, including work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
