The Team: Investment & Benchmarking data Owner, Global Index Management & Production Group (IMPG)

Responsibilities and Impact:

As an Investment Data & Benchmarking data owner specializing in Portfolio Benchmarking, you will play a central role in maintaining the accuracy, integrity, and analytical power of the performance data that underpins S&P’s benchmarking solutions. You will work with raw data inputs submitted by investment management firms, including asset allocation details, performance returns, and risk classifications and play a pivotal role in validating, processing, and transforming these inputs into trusted datasets.

This role is fundamental in upholding S&P’s benchmarks as credible, data-driven standards for portfolio performance. Your work will ensure that benchmarks accurately reflect underlying contributor data, enabling institutional clients and internal teams to make sound, data-backed assessments of investment strategy outcomes.

  • Own the data pipeline that feeds into industry-recognized portfolio benchmarking tools used by global asset managers.

  • Develop expertise in sourcing, validating, and governing performance data across thousands of portfolios and multiple risk categories.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including data engineering, methodology, and product teams to optimize data flow and improve quality controls.

  • Influence benchmark design and accuracy by applying rigorous validation processes and providing feedback on data structure, anomalies, and trends.

  • Gain exposure to the end-to-end benchmark lifecycle, from data ingestion through to index publication and reporting.

  • Build a career at the intersection of investment performance, data operations, and benchmark innovation within a globally recognized financial intelligence firm.

Responsibilities:

 Data Input Management

  • Process and validate portfolio performance submissions from contributor firms.

  • Ensure completeness, accuracy, and consistency across performance returns, asset allocations, and risk categorizations.

  • Standardize and normalize incoming data for integration into S&P’s benchmarking models.

 Benchmark Support

  • Monitor benchmark outputs and cross-reference them against input data for integrity.

  • Assist with performance reviews, dataset updates, and analytical summaries.

  • Support the development and documentation of benchmark methodologies.

 Quality Control & Governance

  • Implement data validation routines and flag inconsistencies or anomalies for investigation.

  • Maintain audit trails and data dictionaries to support transparency and reproducibility.

  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to improve data submission processes and tools.

Research & Reporting

  • Contribute to analytical reports and insights derived from benchmark datasets.

  • Participate in internal research projects that explore performance dispersion, return consistency, or risk-adjusted metrics
