As a Technical Manager, you will be responsible for the technical and managerial oversight of your team.  We believe the best Engineering leaders are deeply technical, and look for colleagues who are able to engage deeply on a technical level, developing their team in the process.  You will also serve as a Product Owner, the key person for your domain of expertise.  You will work closely with Engineering leadership and counterparts in FinOps to develop your team's roadmap, vision, and execute against it.  As Technical Manager, FinOps Automation Engineering, you will lead a high-performing technical team responsible for accelerating the delivery from our FinOps organization.  Your team will build and integrate tools across several functions to ensure that Voleon is always operating at peak efficiency.  Your team will work to understand customer workflows in depth and build or buy compelling solutions that improve their efficiency.  Your team will understand APIs, Integrations, and Data Platforms to provide deep insights and productivity for our internal partners in FinOps.
You will work with the VP of Engineering, our IT Vendor Manager, and our Corporate IT team to execute on your vision for your team.  You will grow and scale your team according to a roadmap that you develop and own, ensuring accountable, reliable delivery of this roadmap.  You'll develop individual engineers in your group to deliver ever more from your organization.  You'll collaborate with peers in engineering and stakeholders in FinOps to balance a diverse set of requirements, and make tradeoffs to ensure the best outcomes for the firm.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively manage a team of engineers
  • Attract, hire, and retain top engineering talent 
  • Develop ambitious yet achievable goals for your team, and reliably deliver results
  • Work closely with stakeholder team to develop a roadmap and future vision for your team
  • Mentor and grow individual contributors to continuously up-level your team
  • Deliver solutions quickly, at the right levels of technical depth and quality
  • Understand customer challenges and provide appropriate solutions at the right technical level
  • Integrate complex systems with easy to use tools and solutions

Requirements

  • Computer Science Degree, or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of people management experience
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience
  • Demonstrated history of management of engineering teams
  • Proven ability to hire, manage, and grow exceptional engineers
  • Expertise in a modern programming language, such as Python, Go, R, and/or C/C++
  • Strong product engineering fundamentals, working with customers to understand challenges
  • Familiarity with common APIs, best practices, and data products
The base salary range for this position is $225,000 to $255,000 in the location(s) of this posting. Individual salaries are determined through a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and geography. Base salary does not include other forms of total compensation such as bonus compensation and other benefits. Our benefits package includes medical, dental and vision coverage, life and AD&D insurance, 20 days of paid time off, 9 sick days, and a 401(k) plan with a company match.
