Requirements:
- Minimum of 7–10 years of experience in enterprise data and analytics, with at least 3–5 years leading Power BI and data modeling initiatives.
- Bachelor’s Degree: (or equivalent work experience) in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or related field.
Job Responsibilities:
We are seeking a seasoned Data Architect with deep expertise in Power BI and a passion for AI enablement. This critical role will lead the transformation of raw data into actionable insights, accelerate AI adoption, and support data-driven decision-making across our business. As a key member of the Business Intelligence & Analytics Team, the Data Architect will own the design, development, and governance of our Power BI environment. In addition to hands-on Power BI development, this individual will architect scalable, enterprise-grade reporting solutions, establish best practices, and lead a small team of BI developers and data analysts. The role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams including IT, Sales, Finance, Marketing, Manufacturing, and Operations to deliver impactful dashboards and analytical tools that drive growth, operational efficiency, and commercial performance. Success in this role requires strong proficiency in enterprise data warehousing, along with expert-level knowledge of data modeling, data integration, visualization, best practices, and cloud-based storage solutions.
Primary Accountabilities (35% Plan, 30% Build, 35% Run)
Application Management:
- Lead the development and optimization of enterprise-grade Power BI solutions, including semantic data models, DAX calculations, and scalable dashboards aligned with business KPIs.
- Partner with business leadership and Business Systems Analysts to define analytical needs and ensure the Power BI application strategy supports organizational goals across commercial, supply chain, and finance functions.
- Oversee the health and performance of the Power BI platform, ensuring alignment with service level agreements, delivery timelines, and end-user expectations.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in Power BI and Microsoft AI capabilities, managing vendor relationships, training business users, and enabling efficient analytics adoption across the enterprise.
- Continuously evaluate emerging trends in Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, Azure OpenAI, and data visualization to identify opportunities for innovation and system improvement.
- Proactively manage risks related to Power BI platform operations by developing and enforcing data governance, usage policies, and support protocols.
- Ensure system uptime, data accuracy, and availability meet or exceed agreed-upon business service levels and compliance standards.
- Data Modeling:
Collaborative Portfolio Management:
- Collaborate closely with Business Systems Analysts and stakeholders to translate business and functional requirements into technical data architecture and visualization solutions.
- Champion the adoption of advanced analytics and AI-driven features such as Power BI Copilot, Smart Narratives, and Azure OpenAI integrations to accelerate data-driven decision-making.
- Facilitate cross-functional alignment by engaging subject matter experts and business units to evaluate and prioritize reporting and AI use cases that deliver measurable business value.
- Lead reporting and analytics initiatives from ideation through execution—including stakeholder interviews, business case development, roadmap planning, technical delivery, and post-implementation optimization.
- Design and institutionalize repeatable frameworks for KPI measurement, performance monitoring, and business self-service analytics leveraging certified Power BI datasets.
- Provide comprehensive documentation, governance artifacts, and training materials to support scalable, secure, and sustainable adoption of analytics tools and methodologies.
Technology and Operational Support:
- Partner with IT, Data Engineering, and Infrastructure teams to deliver technically sound, performance stable, and secure Power BI solutions and underlying data pipelines, including Governance that define reporting standards, manage RLS, naming conventions, and promote self-service.
- Provide subject matter expertise in data modeling, ETL architecture, semantic layer design, and analytics lifecycle best practices to shape and transform data from D365 F&O and Azure Data Lake into optimized structures for enterprise analytics.
- Participate in the selection, evaluation, and renewal of technology partnerships and software agreements related to BI platforms and AI capabilities.
- Offer ad hoc troubleshooting support and platform oversight, ensuring tickets are resolved in alignment with SLAs, and user satisfaction remains high.
- Monitor and improve operational KPIs for reporting uptime, issue resolution, and data pipeline performance through continuous improvement initiatives.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Experience
- Proven experience designing enterprise reporting solutions using Power BI, including semantic models, DAX, and integration with Azure Data Lake and/or Dynamics 365 F&O.
- Demonstrated success working cross-functionally with business stakeholders, Business Systems Analysts, and data engineering teams to deliver strategic analytics solutions

- Functional/Technical Skills
- Power BI Expertise: Deep proficiency in Power BI development, DAX, Power Query (M), data visualization best practices, and enterprise dataset governance.
- AI and Advanced Analytics: Hands-on experience enabling AI features within Power BI (e.g., Copilot, Smart Narratives, Q&A) and exposure to Azure OpenAI, SynapseML, or ML integration pipelines.
- Data Integration & Modeling: Strong understanding of Azure Data Lake Gen2, Synapse Analytics, and data modeling for complex domains like make-to-order manufacturing, financials, and supply chain.
- Governance & Enablement: Experience implementing data governance, RLS, self-service frameworks, certified datasets, and training programs to support scalable BI adoption.
- Project & Portfolio Management: Skilled in managing reporting and AI projects from scoping to delivery. Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, or Kanban methodologies.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Strong collaboration skills with functional leaders, analysts, and end-users to translate requirements into technical solutions.
- Certifications: (Preferred)
- Microsoft Certifications:
- Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate (PL-300)
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Enterprise Data Analyst Associate (DP-500 retired) or Microsoft Certified: Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate (DP-600 current)
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Fundamentals (DP-900)
- Project & IT Management:
- Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), PMP, or Agile Certified Practitioner (ACP)
- ITIL v4 Foundation (for service delivery alignment)

Job Details:
- Work Hours: Monday through Friday, business hours; onsite 4 days (Vernon, CA); remote 1 days; with additional weekend or on-call requirements
- Work Attire: Use good judgment, keeping in mind the nature of their work, their safety and the safety of others, and their need to interact with the public.
- Pay Range: $130,000 - $175,000 + Bonus eligible
