Job Description
Position Purpose:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager of Data Science and Analytics to lead our efforts in leveraging data to drive business insights and opportunities. This role is pivotal in creating strategies to manage and analyze the growing volume, velocity, and variety of data within the utility sector, while also supporting traditional data analysis and reporting methods. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in data management, leadership, and information technology systems, with a strong background in IT, business, and mathematics.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute strategies to analyze and manage complex data sets, uncovering valuable business insights.
- Manage and grow a team of data scientists and analysts ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Develop predictive models for energy demand forecasting, building performance optimization and grid optimization.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for leveraging data to improve operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
- Present technical topics effectively to varied audiences and establish strong relationships across the organization and directly with clients.
- Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the team.
Qualifications
Education/Experience/Background:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field is required.
- 5 to 10 years of experience in a BI, reporting, data science, data analytics role.
- Some people Management experience preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of building or utility energy data is highly desirable.
- Strong expertise in data science tools and platforms, including Python, R, Anaconda, Jupyter Notebook, and data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
- Knowledge of big data solutions, cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), and database management systems.
- Familiarity with agile methodologies and project management frameworks.
- Comprehensive understanding of data privacy policies, data protection regulations, and best practices for data governance.
- Business acumen with the ability to translate data insights into actionable strategies that align with organizational goals.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Strong problem-solving and root cause identification skills, coupled with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
Required Certification/Licenses/Training:
- Relevant certifications in data science, analytics, or big data technologies are a plus.
Additional Information
Pay Rate: $130000 to $155000 per year.

In addition, employees are also entitled to participate in an employer sponsored 401(k) plan, to save for retirement. Pay and benefits for employees represented by a union are outlined in their collective bargaining agreement.
