Job Description:
Sr. Data Engineer | Location: Hybrid – Milwaukee, WI
Rite-Hite is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to help advance our enterprise-wide data analytics transformation. In this position, you will be responsible for building scalable data infrastructure, modern data pipelines, and reliable data models that enable the business to make informed, data-driven decisions. The role supports the organization's strategic objectives by ensuring high-quality, accessible, and actionable data across all functions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with stakeholders across Business and IT to gather requirements and translate them into scalable, efficient technical solutions.
- Design, build, and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines in Databricks for ingesting and transforming large-scale structured and unstructured data from diverse sources.
- Apply Medallion Architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold layers) to ensure clean, reliable, and well-structured data flows.
- Implement and enforce best practices for pipeline design, CI/CD, testing, monitoring, and data governance.
- Develop, maintain, and optimize domain-specific data models to support data-driven decision-making.
- Design and manage interactive Tableau dashboards and reports to deliver actionable insights to business stakeholders.
- Ensure data quality, integrity, and security by establishing robust validation processes, monitoring systems, and role-based access control.
- Continuously optimize data storage, compute resources, and pipeline performance on the AWS Databricks platform.
- Conduct exploratory data analysis to uncover trends, anomalies, and business opportunities.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in data engineering, analytics, AI/ML integration, and data visualization.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Data Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of IT experience, with at least 7 years in data engineering and analytics roles.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Databricks on AWS, including Apache Spark and Delta Lake.
- Strong experience in SQL and Python for data transformation and automation.
- Deep understanding of Medallion Architecture and modern ETL/ELT practices.
- Proficiency in Tableau dashboards (build & deploy) and data visualizations.
- Background in the manufacturing domain is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools, Git, and orchestration (e.g. Airflow).
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Databricks Data Engineer certification is a plus.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This role does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but requires mentoring team members and reviewing their work to ensure alignment with quality standards and best practices.
