The Digital Manufacturing Systems (DMS) team at Ford is building the digital factory of the future—a software-defined manufacturing ecosystem that integrates process, product, and production to empower operators and engineers like never before.

We operate at the intersection of advanced software, embedded systems, connected hardware, and real-time insights to enable Ford’s transformation into a Virtual First, Connected Factory that closes feedback loops in real time. Our goal is simple: make the operator’s life better while building safer, smarter, and more efficient plants worldwide.

As a part of this team you will be involved in:

  • BuildingĀ next-generation manufacturing platformsĀ that reduce defects, boost throughput, and enhance safety across Ford’s global factories.
  • Design and developĀ high-performance applications and servicesĀ for real-time factory orchestration and diagnostics.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams—embedded systems, hardware engineers, and data scientists—to bring the digital twin of Ford’s factory to life.
  • Contribute toĀ real-time insight generationĀ that allows operators and machines to make proactive decisions.
  • Participate in developingĀ Ford’s first in-house diagnostics platformĀ for real-time assembly insights.

What you'll do…

  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable applications and backend services for the workstation within the factory
  • Contribute to the full software development lifecycle: ideation, design, coding, testing, deployment, and support
  • Own significant parts of the tech stack and lead the implementation of key features
  • Troubleshoot production issues and proactively improve system robustness
  • Mentor entry-level engineers and provide technical feedback through code reviews
  • Help define technical direction and evaluate new technologies or patterns
  • Write clean, testable, and maintainable code in line with industry best practices

You'll have...

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
  • 6 years of experience building full-stack applications in production environments, with proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, React, and backend frameworks including Next.js, Node.js, Python, Rust or Go
  • 2 years experience in either 3D graphics and modeling within video game development or in simulation
  • 2 years experience with database systems (SQL, NoSQL) and API design (REST/GraphQL)
  • 2 years experience applying mathematical fundamentals, including geometry, linear algebra, kinematics, dynamics, and mechanics

Even better, you may have...

  • iOS application development experience using SwiftUI
  • Experience deploying and maintaining applications in a factory or IOT environment
  • Exposure to real-time systems or manufacturing data workflows a big plus
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with product, design, hardware and project engineering teams

You may not check every box, or your experience may look a little different from what we've outlined, but if you think you can bring value to Ford Motor Company, we encourage you to apply!

As an established global company, we offer the benefit of choice. You can choose what your Ford future will look like: will your story span the globe, or keep you close to home?
