Compensation
$112,800 - $134,000
Exempt Grade 18
- Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas offers excellent competitive compensation with the goal of retaining and growing talented team members. The compensation range for this role is a good faith estimate, it is estimated based on what a successful candidate might be paid. All offers presented to candidates are carefully reviewed to ensure fair, equitable pay by offering competitive wages that align with the individual's skills, education, experience, and training. The range may vary above or below the stated amounts.
What you’ll do
Takes ownership of leading and influencing outcomes for the following:
- Develop and maintain actuarial models to evaluate the financial impact of affordability initiatives and strategic projects.
- Design and implement tools and dashboards to track project performance against expected outcomes.
- Analyze large datasets to identify cost drivers and opportunities for cost containment across medical and pharmacy benefits.
- Lead and influence cross-functional teams to define metrics, validate assumptions, and ensure alignment with enterprise goals.
- Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership, translating complex actuarial insights into actionable strategies.
- Monitor and report on actual vs. expected results for key initiatives, identifying variances and root causes.
- Support the development of business cases for new programs, including ROI analysis and scenario modeling.
- Mentor junior actuarial staff and contribute to knowledge sharing across the actuarial team.
What you need
- Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Associateship or Fellowship designation in the Society of Actuaries (SOA) required
- Minimum of 6 years of actuarial experience with pricing, forecasting, risk management, strategic planning, and/or program evaluation.
- Experience with building and evaluating new actuarial models, project management, communication with senior leadership, and tracking actual to expected outcomes.
- Occasional travel may be required for meetings, training, or client engagements.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Advanced knowledge in applying data analytics, statistical modeling, and predictive techniques to improve accuracy and efficiency in actuarial processes within the health insurance industry.
- Excellent communication skills to convey complex actuarial concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders and senior leadership.
- Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and collaborate with Finance, Medical Economics, Underwriting, Sales, and Clinical teams across the enterprise to drive business objectives.
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, R, Databricks, Azure, Tableau, and/or Power BI, with advanced expertise in data analysis and visualization.
