Position Overview: Business Solution Architect – Consumer Banking & Lending (BFSI)
We are seeking a seasoned Solution Architect to lead business & technology strategy, architecture, and transformation design across the Consumer Banking & Lending domains within the BFSI sector. This role requires deep functional understanding of retail banking, lending products, and customer lifecycle journeys, combined with the ability to architect scalable, secure, and modern technology solutions that drive business growth, compliance, and operational agility. The ideal candidate will bring cross-domain expertise in banking operations, digital customer experience, data architecture, lending lifecycle (origination through servicing and capital markets), and technology modernization.
Key Responsibilities
Architecture Design & Strategy
•
Develop comprehensive end-to-end business solution architectures for banking and lending capabilities including account opening, onboarding, personal loans, auto finance, and residential mortgages.
•
Define and maintain architecture blueprints, reference models, and system integration patterns across core, digital, data, and cloud layers.
•
Provide leadership for legacy modernization initiatives including core banking replacement, lending platform upgrades, and omni-channel transformation.
Domain-Centric Solutioning
•
Architect solutions across the core banking & lending value chain: Retail, Banking, Online Banking, Origination, Fulfillment, Servicing, and Secondary Market.
•
Align digital channel architecture (web, mobile, social, contact center) with customer experience strategies using customer journey-based design and API-first principles.
•
Apply domain expertise to deliver differentiated lending experiences including pre-approved offers, AI-led credit scoring, and real-time disbursement.
Technical Solution Leadership
•
Lead design secure, high-performing architectures leveraging microservices, event-driven architecture, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), cloud-native platforms (AWS, Azure,
GCP).
•
Partner with cybersecurity, risk, compliance, and infrastructure teams to ensure adherence to enterprise standards.
•
Conduct technology evaluations, POCs, and solution comparisons to select optimal industry platform and tools.
Stakeholder Engagement & Advisory
•
Act as a strategic advisor to business leaders and product managers by articulating how architecture choices impact business outcomes.
•
Lead business architecture reviews and facilitate design decisions across multidisciplinary teams.
•
Support pre-sales and consulting engagements by defining solution approaches, effort estimation, and value proposition articulation.
Implementation Guidance & Governance
•
Provide architectural oversight across delivery lifecycle including sprint planning, technical reviews, DevSecOps integration, testing, and production readiness.
•
Guide cross-functional teams to translate architectural blueprints into executable designs. Ensure reusability, compliance, scalability, and resilience in every solution.
AI-Driven Transformation
•
Design and implement AI/ML-driven solutions to enhance lending decisioning, fraud detection, risk scoring, and hyper-personalized banking experiences working with cross functional client & internal teams.
•
Collaborate with data science and engineering teams to integrate AI models into production systems for predictive analytics, intelligent automation, and customer segmentation.
•
Drive use cases such as AI-powered underwriting, chatbots/agentic AI for customer service, document intelligence for loan processing, and real-time analytics for loan portfolio risk.
•
Ensure AI implementations adherence to ethical standards, model governance, explainability, and regulatory requirements (e.g., Fair Lending, Model Risk Management).
BFSI Business Transformation Expertise
•
Deep understanding of end-to-end BFSI processes including retail banking, lending, payments, risk, compliance, and customer lifecycle management.
•
Proven track record in driving digital transformation initiatives including core system modernization, omnichannel enablement, and cloud adoption.
•
Experience leading transformation programs that integrate fintech capabilities, embedded finance models, and open banking strategies.
•
Ability to align IT and business strategy to improve operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, customer satisfaction, and market competitiveness.
•
Expertise in managing enterprise change, transformation governance, and value realization through OKRs and KPIs.
•
Background in cost-to-income ratio improvement, business process reengineering, and operating model transformation within financial institutions.
•
Familiarity with agile transformation frameworks, digital maturity assessments, and transformation road mapping for large-scale BFSI clients.
Required Experience & Qualifications
•
10–15 years of IT experience with at least 5 years as a Solution Architect in Consumer Banking and Lending.
•
Expertise in core banking systems (e.g., Finastra, FIS, Fiserv, Temenos) and loan management systems (e.g., Encompass, Empower, MSP, Black Knight, ICE).
•
Experience in Personal Loans, Auto Lending, Mortgage Origination/Servicing/Capital Markets, Digital Channels, and Customer Identity & Onboarding.
•
Familiarity with Open Banking, Embedded Finance, Fintech APIs, and regulatory standards (FCRA, HMDA, RESPA, TILA).
•
Experience in designing and deploying AI/ML solutions in BFSI, particularly in underwriting, customer insights, fraud prevention, or intelligent process automation.
Preferred Qualifications
•
TOGAF, Zachman, SAFe Architect certifications.
•
Cloud certifications: AWS/GCP/Azure.
•
Experience with Blend, Roostify, nCino, Upstart, Plaid, Mambu.
•
Exposure to AI/ML in intelligent underwriting, fraud detection, and collections.
•
Familiarity with AI platforms and frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, SageMaker, Vertex AI) and experience integrating AI into core banking or lending platforms.
•
Experience with GSE platforms (Fannie Mae DU, Freddie Mac LPA).
