Data Analytics Internship – 12 Month Contract

The internship is a structured work-based program, affording unemployed graduates work experience in our company. The successful applicants will enter into a 12-month fixed term Internship agreement (not an employment contract) with the company and receive a stipend.

Job Description

The primary responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Support data collection, validation, and cleansing to maintain data accuracy.
• Conduct statistical analysis and create predictive models for risk assessment and decision-making.
• Assist in building and managing actuarial models for pricing, reserving, and risk evaluation.
• Work with diverse teams to pinpoint areas for process enhancement and efficiency.
• Compile and deliver reports outlining insights and suggestions to stakeholders.
• Aid in various ad-hoc actuarial and analytical initiatives as required.

Competencies

The successful individual would need to demonstrate the below listed competencies at an advanced level:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manipulate and interpret complex data sets.
• Proficiency in statistical software such as R, Python, SQL or SAS, as well as Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and quality in work output.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Matric or equivalent
• Must have completed a Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field.
• Computer Literate (MS Office)
•  No work experience required.

Take note to qualify for an INSETA Internship program you need to:

• Be a South African citizen.
• Not previously part of an internship/learnership with INSETA
• Be between the ages of 18 & 35
• Unemployed in the last 2 months
