The European B2B Portal Manager is responsible for the functional and technical management of the connection to the Third-Party B2B portals to ensure that the Skillsoft Global Knowledge data feeding those portals are efficient, effective, usable and available, and to resolve issues quickly and appropriately. Furthermore, the European Business Portal Manager is the essential link between the (Commercial) organisation, the Third-Party Portal organisation and the EU IT organisation.

Main Objectives:

• Writing project specifications and user stories (simple explanations of features written from the user’s perspective) that focus on optimizing current portal data feeds & integrations
• Determining which features should be prioritized for development in the backlog
• Communicating with technical teams and users to determine their needs and priorities
• Carrying out tests with the technical teams
• Validating or rejecting the results of the tests

Key Areas of Responsibility:

Reducing downtime:

• Minimising downtime of the portals by proactively resolving XML errors in close collaboration with the development teams
• Escalations/Technical Support – Lead incident to resolution
• First line analysis & Dissolution of Errors that occurred
• Coordinate bug fixes from test to prod

Business activities:

• Sales awareness and higher revenue generation via portals
• Acquisition of new customers in conjunction with Sales
• Widening the number of customer training courses in conjunction with Sales
• Quick onboarding of new customers
• Setting up new portals in collaboration with partners
• Sales Support
• Contact management Portals

Expanding portfolio:

• E-learning, Exams, Subscriptions
• Implement more delivery methods

Optimisation:

• Continuous improvement of functionalities (XML feeds according to standards)
• Keeping track of new training courses and adding them to the customer facing portals in a timely manner

Documenting customer portal:

• XML documentation
• Edudex optimization
• Edudex change process

Process improvement:

• Re-active

Report:

• Reporting status
• Reporting Revenue

Through Teams/SharePoint reporting of:

Required Skills:

To work effectively with XML feeds, it is important to have certain technical skills. Here are some of the key technical skills useful for working with XML feeds:

Knowledge of XML syntax and structure:

• You need to be familiar with the basics of XML, such as tags, attributes, elements and the hierarchical structure of XML documents.

XML schemas (XSD):

• Understanding XML schemas is important for validating XML data. You need to know how to create and apply an XSD to check the validity of XML documents.

XML parsing:

• Experience with XML parsing in programming languages such as Java, Python, C#, PHP or other languages. This includes being able to read, process and manipulate XML data in your code.

XPath and XSLT: 

• Knowledge of XPath, a query language for searching XML documents, and XSLT, a language for transforming XML data, is useful if you need to perform complex operations on XML feeds.

Validation and error handling:

• The ability to validate XML data and detect and handle errors is crucial to ensure reliable data processing.

XML generation:

• As part of your tasks, you may need to generate XML documents. Knowledge of how to build XML correctly according to specifications is important.

Security:

• Awareness of security issues related to XML processing, such as preventing attacks like XML injection.

XML-related technologies:

• Familiarity with other XML-related technologies such as XML Namespaces, XML Schema
• Definition (XSD), Document Type Definitions (DTD), etc.

Performance Optimisation:

• Optimising the performance of XML processing, especially when handling large XML files, canbe essential.

Debugging and troubleshooting:

• The ability to identify and solve problems in XML processing, including dealing with error messages and data quality issues.
