Using the latest analytic tools and processes, we’re able to analyze our data to provide strategic insight leading to transformational change. To carry us even further, we are seeking a Data Analyst Manager to join our expanding, problem-solving team, supporting our Long-Term Care Data Insights and Strategy team. This individual will harness the power of data, critical thinking, curiosity, and communicating with impact to share insights and drive business strategy for our customers and processes to support critical initiatives that will transform the landscape of long-term care insurance.


What you will be doing

  • Work with large and complex databases containing millions of records.

  • Develop in-depth expertise around new and/or complex datasets.

  • Directly support various strategic initiatives by sourcing & documenting data and leveraging data for new uses and insights. This data may be hosted on-premises, in the cloud, or externally.

  • Design and code advanced queries to extract, validate, and analyze desired data based on the organization’s needs.

  • Leverage strong programming skills to explore, examine, and interpret large data sets in various forms, including structured, semi-structured and unstructured, to provide reporting and machine learning input for analysis and regular production models.

  • Use a variety of analytical languages and tools, including but not limited to: SQL, Python,

  • Spotfire, Power BI and other Business Intelligence software.

  • Develop reports and interactive Dashboards used to identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.

  • Develop requirements for data-related projects and work with the IT team to see projects through from start to finish.

  • Conduct root cause analysis to determine reason for an issue, impact of that issue and propose solutions to resolve the issue.

  • Work with cross-departmental teams to understand and capture data analysis and reporting requirements, including the metrics and methodologies to be used.

  • Create and manage Business Intelligence and analytics solutions that turn data into knowledge.

  • Migrate manual reporting and reconciliation processes into automated solutions.

  • Act as a resource and mentor for more junior colleagues; may lead small teams or projects.


What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in an analytical or technical discipline.

  • At least 5 years of data analyst and/or data modeling experience in a dynamic environment. Expertise obtained through progressive analytical and operational work experience.

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience using Spotfire, Power BI, Tableau, and/or similar data analytics, visualization, and business intelligence tools.

  • Advanced SQL experience

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in scripting languages, such as Python, or R.

  • Critical thinking skills with the ability to leverage quantitative and qualitative data to support business strategy and execution.

  • Results-oriented and able to demonstrate a sense of urgency and accountability for your work.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple and changing priorities with a drive for results.

  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Excel (e.g. developing pivot tables, linking to external data, automating with VBA, etc.).

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Must be a strong team player with the ability to influence and work collaboratively with your team and build relationships with cross-functional areas.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in data analytics related field.

  • Database/ETL experience.

  • Familiarity with cloud computing, specifically Azure and/or AWS.

  • Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Azure Synapse Analytics, Spark, Databricks, AWS/Azure, etc...).

  • In-depth expertise with advanced analytical and modeling data capabilities utilizing Python and/or R.

  • Long Term Care insurance product and claims process knowledge.
