About the Team

 

The Data Management & Insights [DMI] team within Business Excellence is responsible for making client data accessible to stakeholders by systematically acquiring and ingesting it. The team also utilizes advanced analytics techniques to generate valuable insights for L&H Reinsurance [L&H Re]. With a continuous improvement mindset, they strive to enhance data, systems, and processes for both their own use and their stakeholders.

 

About the Role

 

As a Data Management & Insights Manager, you will co-lead the DMI team for Asia (ex. China) alongside the existing DMI Manager. You will collaborate closely with business analysts, data and data product analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders across various reinsurance functions to support the acquisition, ingestion, and provisioning of data, and to drive insights. In this role, you will see a direct link between your work, your team's deliverables, and stakeholder satisfaction.

 

Key responsibilities

 

• Proactively drive the vision for acquiring, and ingesting data received from our clients and execute on a plan to achieve that vision.
• Define the processes needed to achieve operational excellence in all areas, including project management, operational risk management and IT system reliability.
• Build and manage a high-quality Data Management & Insights team and design the team to scale.
• Build cross-functional relationships with stakeholders to understand data needs and deliver on those needs.
• Engage with L&H IT to drive the design, building, and launching of new data platforms & tools necessary for delivering the data vision.
• Drive data quality across various sub-markets in Asia (ex. China) and various lines of business such as mortality, health, medical, and others.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and subject matter experts to manage the delivery of business value through analytics products, dashboards, and data visualizations.
• Define and manage controls including SLAs, for all DMI processes running in production.

 

About You

 

The ideal candidate will have strong data management skills, a proven track record of leading and scaling data teams, strong operational skills to drive efficiency and speed, strong project management leadership, and a vision for how data can proactively improve companies. You have

• 8+ years of experience in driving and executing a data-driven vision.
• Experience scaling and managing 5+ person teams.
• Communication and leadership experience, with experience initiating and driving projects.
• Project management experience.
• Experience in SQL or similar languages.
• Development experience in at least one object-oriented language (Python, Java, etc.).
• BA/BS in Computer Science, Math, or other technical fields.
• Relevant experience in L&H Reinsurance or Data Architecture is a plus.
