THE POSITION
 

Within the Technology & Innovation group in Vitesco Technologies, the candidate will focus on design and development criteria for advanced power electronics in the areas of traction inverters, on-board chargers and DC/DC converters.

 

Daily Activities include but not are limited to:

  • Developing power electronics innovation that drive leadership in performance, efficiency, packaging and cost
  • Analysis and choice of key electronic components and thermal management to demonstrate optimum solution(s) considering performance, size, weight, manufacturability, testability, lifetime, quality and cost
  • Simulation of power electronics components and assemblies, such as traction inverters
  • Mechanical modelling of power electronics components and assemblies and the associated thermal management systems
  • Mechanical design of housings, and mechanical elements found in power electronics assemblies
  • Interfacing with internal and external resources to gain information on activities related to, and opportunities to support, power electronics development and testing in other areas within Vitesco
  • Planning and implementation of testing activities for power electronics
  • Analysis of component and subcomponent level power electronics data to assess performance and identify opportunities for improvement of design or calibration
  • Technical scouting, creating innovation projects and developing new product opportunities
  • Professional development including attending technical conferences/seminars
  • Build- up technical competences and communication skills of team

Job Requirements

 

Required:

 

  • Masters or higher degree in Electrical engineering, or related engineering discipline
  • 2 plus years of technical engineering experience both individually & in a team setting
  • 2 plus years in power electronics component design/development and/or testing
  • 2 plus years of project management experience
  • Multidisciplinary experience and ability to adapt to different domains
  • Strong knowledge of WBG devices, such as SiC and GaN
  • Experience with component / system engineering requirements
  • Experience with customer communications & technical presentations
  • Demonstration of excellent communication and collaboration skills

 

 

Preferred:

  • Advanced degree by thesis related to power electronics or related topics
  • Fundamental knowledge of powertrain systems and/or components
  • Experience with powertrain testing, including dynamometer or vehicle level testing
  • Experience with power electronics simulation/modelling with packages such as ANSYS, TwinBuilder and/or Matlab-Simulink
  • Experience with 3D modelling and CAD software (Siemens NX and Creo)
  • Experience with creating engineering drawings and understanding of tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Experience with manufacturing or machining components and assemblies including rapid prototyping
  • Experience with data processing and analysis, especially with Matlab-Simulink
  • Experience with technical scouting, innovation projects and developing new products
  • Ability to provide input on project management methods to track and communicate progress, coordinate team activities, identify obstacles and propose countermeasures.
  • Ability to coordinate cross-divisional collaboration for power electronics related topics
  • Ability to build up technical competence and communication skills of team
  • Interest in professional development & new learning/leadership opportunities
  • Excellent knowledge of EMI and the design rules to meet Automotive Standards (e.g., CISPR25-Class 5)
