The unit has a strategic objective of anticipating, shaping, and protecting future technologies and systems and ensuring appropriate standards and industry specifications are developed.

Nokia Standards targets collaboration with internal and external experts to advance the state-of-the-art technology landscape as well as to protect Nokia's intellectual property. We are looking for ambitious and highly engaged colleagues as part of the Standardization & Industry Environment Team. 

We are looking for highly motivated and skilled persons with machine learning and data science competence or device radio competence (device RF, radio L1 or radio protocol) to develop themselves and work with 3GPP radio standardization and related research activities as 3GPP delegates or domain experts.

As part of our team, you will be either an expert on AI/ML & data science or device radio technologies and you will:

  • Learn how Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Data Science can shape the evolution of 5G-Advanced and 6G radio technology
  • Contribute your Data Science and AI/ML learnings to the development of future radio technologies like 6G or 5G-Advanced while learning 6G radio or 5G-Advanced radio aspects or 
  • Contribute your radio device to the development of future AI/ML enabled 6G or 5G-Advanced radio technologies while learning AI/ML theories. 
  • Work with a world-class team to drive 6G radio technologies and the evolution of 5G-Advanced in global standardization
  • Design and develop Data Science and AI/ML elements for radio standardization specifications in the areas of physical layer, radio protocols or device radio/RF performance requirements
  • Create inventions and intellectual property (IPR's) and support strengthening of Nokia's IPR portfolio
  • Contribute to and participate in 3GPP standardization meetings for a relevant RAN working group and develop global radio standardization specifications 

You have:

  • Either one of the two areas;
    • M.Sc. degree or PhD with strong knowledge of Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence Data Science theory and experience in how to apply AI/ML for specific cases of use or
    • M.Sc. degree or Ph.D. with strong knowledge of the 5G radio aspects (physical layer, protocol layer or device RF) and experience in device related radio aspects
  • Willingness to grow as an AI/ML expert for 5G-Advanced physical layer, radio protocols or device radio/RF performance areas
  • Fluent spoken English and proficiency in technical writing are essential
  • The ability to work in a multinational and distributed team, as well as solid self-motivation

It would be nice if you also had one or some of the following experiences:

  • Practical experience in developing machine learning and artificial intelligence solutions
  • Practical experience of devices (like smartphone) radio or radio modem development
  • Experience in 3GPP standardization or working with 3GPP radio specifications
  • A track record of innovation
