Business Strategy and Data Analyst

We are seeking a highly analytical and strategic-minded individual to join our team as a Business Strategy and Data Analyst. In this role, you will work closely with 14 North America Claims executive leaders who overseeing 20+ departments to regularly monitor and report on key results, conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis, research industry trends, and provide insights that drive informed decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the North America Claims Strategic Planning and Execution team lead to develop a comprehensive strategic portfolio for North America Claims. This includes identifying objectives and key results (OKR) that align with enterprise strategic goals.
- Analyze strategic data sets to identify patterns, insights, and opportunities for optimization. This includes observing and understanding performance patterns in 20+ North America claims departments.
- Design and implement data models, reports, algorithms, and statistical techniques to extract meaningful insights and support strategic initiatives.
- Provide insights and context to the North America Claims executive leadership team to effectively manage, influence, and impact line of business strategic and operational plans.
- Assist the North America Claims executive leadership team in identifying data opportunities to enhance understanding, quantify, and monitor work activity within their department(s), including working with the business to develop key business metrics, if needed.
- Lead discussions with the North America Claims executive leaders, communicate insights derived from analyses, and provide input into strategy development. Use data insights to drive business decisions.
- Develop and maintain reports and data sets that provide insights into strategic performance. Monitor key performance indicators and leverage technological solutions to track progress towards strategic goals.
- Utilize data visualization tools to create compelling data stories that support decision-making and drive action.
- Apply expert analytical rigor to define outcome measures, improve prioritization, evaluate progress towards business outcomes, and assess risks to strategic goals.
- Support the business in identifying opportunities and optimization strategies through data insights and market research. Stay informed on market trends, emerging technologies, competitors, and industry dynamics.
- Assist in the development and execution of short-term and long-term strategic and operational plans.
- Work to integrate and ensure alignment between the North America Data and Analytics, Technology, and Claims business strategies.
- Identify, measure, and monitor risks and dependencies associated with strategic business activities in accordance with governance models.
- Serves as a team lead and provides guidance and on-the-job training to team members.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required. Degree in quantitative discipline (Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Analytics, etc.) preferred but not required.
- 4+ years of experience in business strategy, operational reporting, data analysis, either at a mid-large sized company and/or a consulting company. Experience in Insurance or Financial Services industries preferred but not required.
- High proficiency in extracting, transforming, and analyzing large data sets using analytical tools and software (SQL, Tableau, Qlik, R, Power BI, Snowflake, Python, or other data analysis and visualization tools).
- High proficiency in Microsoft Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, Word).
- Familiarity with process automation design and tools (Blue Prism, Appian, or other automation tools). Preferred but not required.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to connect the dots and identify patterns in a complicated and complex environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills presenting to and influencing cross-functional leaders, especially through distilling technical matters into clear, concise, and actionable explanations.
- Self-starter mentality with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently with strong organizational and time management skills on assigned tasks and lead team on projects or report development.
