Job Description

 

Reporting to the Director, Enterprise Data Architect, the Manager, Data Architect is a skilled problem solver who can build and support data management frameworks and address data-related issues.
This individual plays a crucial role in shaping the data landscape of Canada Post, ensuring that data assets are managed effectively, securely, and aligned with the business objectives. The Managers, Data Architect will collaborate with the Project Manager/Fusion Team to ensure solutions adhere to data quality, best practices and compliance standards within a specific domain.
 

Job Responsibilities

 

Functional / Technical 


●    Plan and assist with the implementation of the enterprise data architectures, including functional features and operational plans


●    Provide oversight into the design of end-to-end data solutions including data architecture, data integration, data modeling, security, privacy, regulatory, performance, data governance, business intelligence, etc. and ensure alignment to overall business needs


●    Enable continuous improvement of data architecture & data processes through regular stakeholder engagement, process reviews and tracking of key metrics/performance indicators


●    Design and implement effective data solutions and data models to store and retrieve organizational data, including architecting overall organizational data strategy (logical data model designs, data solution development and implementation standards, 


●    Recommend data governance processes, security standards, and models that will provide architectural guidelines to support development initiatives


●    Develop strategies for integrating data from various sources, including databases, APIs, data warehouses, and third-party data


●    Review data pipelines for automation opportunities 


●    Lead requirements prioritization and define project scope, goals, timelines and deliverables for data solutions


●    Manage constraints, assumptions, and risks for requirements, and communicate to appropriate stakeholders


●    Design and plan architectural and functional components and processes supporting the creation of data products  


●    Support cross domain data concerns, including, governance, and consolidation 


●    Create and maintain detailed documentation of the data architecture, data flows, data dictionaries, and data lineage

●    Be an evangelist and agent of cultural change by championing the use of digital technology and practices in order to establish a digital mindset from the top down  


●    Drive collaboration, knowledge sharing and best practices among partners and colleagues to help establish a robust digital ecosystem, positively impacting business outcomes


●    Take responsibility to advance the digital dexterity of business partners and present new business options and opportunities based on successful digital examples 

 

 

Continuous Improvement


●    Maintain external accreditations and an in-depth understanding of current and emerging technologies, external regulation, and industry best practices through continuing professional development, attending conferences, and reading specialist media


●    Contribute to the development and enhancement of technical data standards, processes, and tools to increase efficiency and effectiveness


●    Stay updated with the latest data management technologies and tools, evaluating their applicability to Canada Post’s needs.
 

Qualifications

 

Education / Certifications


●    Completed post-secondary education, preferably in Computer Science, Information Systems, Technology, Business, Engineering, or related field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience


●    A Masters or Professional level degree (e.g., MBA) an asset


●    Professional designation or certification an asset (e.g., CDMP, TOGAF, ITIL Foundations, IT Architecture, Certifications from Database vendors, Cloud Certifications)

 

 

Experience

 

●    Minimum of (5) years of experience as a Solution, Infrastructure, Business or Data Architect


●    Minimum of (5) years of experience designing data architectures or components


●    Minimum of (5) years of relevant functional experience including leading the delivery of customer-focused strategies from conception to completion


●    Experience working in a unionized environment an asset


●    Experience in managing relationships with technology, operations, and business members


●    experience with cloud data platforms an asset 


●    DataOps experience


●    Relevant experience in working on projects that involve building data pipelines and ingestion methods, designing microservices based products and processing mapping of data and analytics solutions


●    Experience with defining the process and strategy of related Data Management and Governance (DMG) areas in an enterprise level such as: Metadata Management, Data profiling, Master and reference data management, data modeling (i.e., Erwin), DQ, AI Governance, and working with related Data governance frameworks, automated processes, tools, and technologies such as: AWS DataZone, Talend data catalogue, IGC, Informatica, Glue Catalog, Callibra, or IBM/Watson knowledge catalogue.


●    Experience collaborating with a Data Governance Office (DGO), data stewards, and data owners as a technical Data Architect to define policies, procedures, and architecture patterns that manage and govern data processes, usage, access, and quality using related tools/technologies.   


●    Experience with data lifecycle management processes and functionality in Data & Analytics (D&A) related systems, pipeline and/or platforms such as: Data Capturing, Data Organizing (e.g., databases or data lake), Data Preparation, and Delivery, and related DMG automation processes in the pipeline/platforms
