PLS partners with businesses across a wide range of verticals, including loyalty programs, airlines, travel agents, corporate travel management companies and online retailers who remarket EPS rates and availabilities to their travellers. PLS’s Rapid API powers end-to-end hotel booking functionality for the world’s leading airlines, online travel agencies, and loyalty and membership programs. By providing access to over 700,000 properties across 250,000 destinations, Rapid enables partners to build a custom booking experience with easy integration, industry-leading supply, and competitive rates.

The Data Scientist III plays a vital role in providing analytical insight for product and technology initiatives at PLS, with the objection of driving revenue, profitability, or feature adoption growth through detailed understanding of PLS’s products & solutions.

Working in a cross-functional environment the Product & Technology Analytics Manager will build strong relationships with key stakeholders (Product and Technology SVP, as well as directors and managers), managing projects and interacting with various organizations across Expedia brands and within PLS. Being part of the PLS Analytics team, the Data Scientist III, acts as subject matter expert on product and technology related matters.

The ideal candidate would have strong analytical & technical skills, paired with commercial acumen and strong communication skills, with an interest in technology & travel!
 

What you'll do:

  • Mentor and coach team members to conduct analysis, including model creation, opportunity analysis and KPI creation & tracking, that help prioritize and estimate the impact of various product and technology initiatives

  • Highlight and deliver opportunities to improve top & bottom-line revenue through product & technology projects and optimisation

  • Perform statistical analysis to measure impact of new product and technology initiatives on revenue, technical performance and conversion rate drivers

  • Create dashboards to monitor product and technology performance, visualizing insights for stakeholders

  • Evaluate revenue risks for new product and technology initiatives, proposing solutions to overcome them

  • Build and manage relationships with stakeholders, whilst becoming a product and technology subject matter expert over time

  • Represent PLS Analytics team in stakeholder meetings, ensuring perspectives of broader Analytics team are communicated

Who you are:

  • At least 5 years’ analytical experience in online travel, online retail, banking, or another data-intensive commercial environment

  • Firm understanding of revenue drivers and commercial environment

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex analysis in a format that is easily understandable for the target audience

  • Good understanding of statistics with ability to apply to commercial problem solving

  • Ability to analyse large amounts of data, ideally experience with SQL, R or similar language, with demonstrated skills in understanding conversion drivers in an online environment

  • Strong SQL skills, with ability to write SQL from scratch, and good understanding of databases

  • Experience with data visualization tools (i.e. Tableau)

The total cash range for this position is $109,000 to $152,500. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $174,500, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.   

 

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
