The Service & Team:

The Education Performance Data Team are passionate about data. Our remit is to provide accessible, relevant data and analysis, information and guidance to help Children’s Social Care, Education and Public Health professionals make the most of the information available. We complete a range of statutory collections for the DfE and create associated analysis to support schools and internal colleagues. 

 

The Role:

This full-time role has a responsibility to support and advise in the discharge of those duties which relate to the collection, development and provision of data and statistical information. This involves identifying data requirements, designing and developing reports and analysis, presenting and interpreting information and ensuring quality control is applied, along with ensuring statutory requirements and deadlines are met. 

Key areas include:

  • Liaising with schools to complete statutory returns, including the School Census and assessment collections.
  • Developing and delivering analysis across a wide range of area to support schools and internal colleagues understand outcomes and priorities.
  • Identifying data requirements and responding to legislative changes.
  • Supporting schools and internal colleagues with methodology, collection requirements, data and analysis, including one-to-one sessions.
  • Maintaining and developing processes related to priority work areas. 

The role is varied and provides plenty of challenges and a wide range of tasks.             

This position will be subject to an enhanced criminal record disclosure check. 

 

What you’ll need to succeed:

  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Skills in the presentation and explanation of complex data or analysis at an appropriate level to a range of audiences
  • Confident in the co-ordination and support of specialist data collections and related analysis
  • A high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and a good understanding of data processing
  • Experience in, or knowledge of, Microsoft Power BI would be desirable
  • Successful time management skills, including managing conflicting priorities, working under pressure and meeting deadlines
  • Good communication skills at all levels in both written, verbal and visual formats  
  • A high level of attention to detail 
  • Flexible approach and able to respond positively to change  
  • Relevant statistical/analytical qualification or similar equivalent qualification with an identifiable numerate component (at degree level or equivalent) or considerable proven experience in use of data and statistics

A knowledge of education performance data and methodology would be of value, however training and support will be provided.
