Principal Product Manager - Generative AI

It is an exciting time at Mayo Clinic, as we are building the most trusted generative AI and LLM-based solutions to empower our staff, improve our practice and transform healthcare. To accelerate our generative AI strategy, we are forming a cross functional team of technical experts. This team will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the Generative AI Program’s Request for Application (RFA) Process, its entrants and winners
  • Providing temporary tiger-team efforts to accelerate key initiatives
  • Expanding the organization’s understanding of LLM technology through:
    • Development of best practices, knowledge assets, and code examples to accelerate the efforts of others
    • Execution of technical proofs of concept and exploration
  • Providing consultations, presentations, and sharing of knowledge across Mayo Clinic to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Providing guidance across the Generative AI program workstreams as technical experts

Responsible for driving the vision, strategy, business requirements, roadmap, and execution for assigned technology product. Advocates for the end user experience through data and research driven product discovery and development methods. Ensures alignment between Product, Business and Platform/Property priorities in context of Mayo Clinic's overall strategy and goals, while ensuring the end-user needs are met. Oversees the entire life cycle of the assigned product, from defining setting the vision, managing team to hit OKRs, deriving feature intention maps, managing capacity against scope, building/acquiring the technology - and ultimately creating a best in class user/customer experience, while on time and within budget. Leads agile product methodologies. Accountable to the success of a cross-functional team including, including experts in design, engineering, marketing, and others. Recruits, hires, and mentors members of the team. Responsible for driving the product strategy, vision, design, and development execution.

Ensure delivery of high-value products in alignment with business goals and user experience optimization. Leads a high performing cross-functional team effectively and efficiently that is collaborative with business partners, customers, and other stakeholders (Engineering, UX/UI, Operations, Engagement, AI, etc.) Leverages market and customer feedback and data to inform and guide future product/feature development. Advocate for end-users, and builds and improves features based on their pain points -strives to make product technology and workflows easy to use. Ability to establish deep partnerships with business stakeholders to ensure product achieves business requirements and aligns to other organizational strategies and priorities. Proactively manages and monitors product and operational risks (regulatory, security, operational, etc.) in order to prevent and/or mitigate risks to the customer and business. Monitors and manages product schedules, scopes and budgets and delivering as scheduled. Manages external Mayo Clinic vendor and partnership relationships as assigned. Sets and manages to product performance scorecards and OKRs. Quickly build credibility and partnership with key internal partners and leaders. Understands and applies current technology design, build, and operations capabilities and requirements. Able to effectively communicate and translate a product vision, strategy, and design with engineering partners. Actively seeks to understand new and emerging technologies, their capabilities, pros/cons, and potential applicability to Mayo Clinic product needs (now & future). Capable of creative problem solving to create software solutions that are simple, engaging and create value to the end users. Proficient in guiding and leading complex engineering teams.

100% remote role; the employee must live in the U.S.  Mayo Clinic will not sponsor or transfer visas for this position including F1 OPT STEM.

Occasional travel (approximately twice a quarter) required; additional travel may be necessary as dictated by business needs.

Bachelor's Degree (business, engineering, technology, health care) and 7+ yrs of product management experience. Masters degree preferred. Experience in managing complex products or a family of multiple products required.
