Program Overview
The Comcast Cooperative Educational Program (Co-op) immerses students into the daily operations of a contemporary media and technology company while working side-by-side with Comcast’s top innovators. Designed for students whose curriculum allows for a cooperative learning track, the co-op becomes an integral part of the Comcast team working on creative, innovative, and thought-provoking projects within various business units. Throughout the experience, there is opportunity for exposure to mentorship and professional development while having some fun along the way.
Role Overview
Comcast’s Global Technology Organization (GTO) is responsible for developing and managing the platforms that power our customer experiences, as well as the architecture, developer experiences and tools that support them. The Dev X Protect team is part of Developer Experience (DevX) organization tasked to create tools and processes to help our developers work better, deliver software faster, and stay cost-effective:
At DevX Protect, we ensure that teams are enabled to reduce cyber security and privacy risks while reducing difficulty and friction in achieving Cyber Security goals. We create solutions that provide action-oriented insights to guide developer teams to address risks in a prioritized way and ensure developers across GTO are building solution following security best practices and all platforms have a solid cyber security posture.
The Software Engineering Co-op is an important role, you will participate in plan, design and development of new software and web applications in the AWS Cloud. Analyzes, tests, deploy and assists with the integration of new and existing applications. Documents development activities.

We are building software to solve complex problem in Cyber Security and Software Development space, building tools including Security Portals, Infrastructure Design Assistant, and AI Chatbots for Developers, using AWS Tech Stack and Serverless, Python, Java, also utilizing AI Large Language Models.
You’ll be working with smart, friendly, and cooperative set of individuals that are passionate to solve complex business problems “together”. Folks who are open to listens, help you succeed and encourage diversity of opinions. Our team is one of the most primer security teams in Comcast. You’ll also get the exposure to work with other teams across the DevX, Comcast Cyber Security and GTO organizations.
This role will provide you a great opportunity to impact the lives of thousands of fellow developers who desperately need solutions to make their professional lives better and highly productive. It’ll position you to help reduce Cyber Security risk for the greater GTO organization and in turn improving lives of Comcast Customers and their interaction with Comcast products and service more secure.
Co-op responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Experience or exposure in developing and consuming REST APIs
An opportunity to work across full stack development utilizing one or more of the following languages: Python, Node.JS, React.js, C#/.Net, Java.
Gain experience with a broad set of AWS technologies like Serverless, API Gateway, S3, EC2, Aurora, Dynamo DB, Redshift, ETL technologies like Glue/or similar and/or other AWS technologies.
Experience or exposure with one or more database technologies including both Relational and No-SQL DBs such as Oracle, Postgres, MySQL, MSSQL/Aurora, Dynamo DB, Redshift, Neptune, Hadoop, MS SQL Server etc.
Debugging skills with the ability to ask for help.
Consume libraries, tools, and APIs from other teams to achieve the desired functionality.
Familiarity with or get exposure of development process in the DevSecOps environment (including CI/CD tools such a Jenkins/Octopus/Concourse, source code management tools - e.g. GitHub, TFS
Conducts analysis to determine integration needs.
Researches, writes, and edits documentation and technical requirements, including software design evaluation plans, test results, and technical manuals.
Ability to “think outside the box” and propose new, and creative solutions or alternate approaches that may involve differences from current technologies, architectures, and infrastructures.
Gain familiarity with Secure Development practices, reviews, learn the ability to writes, and edits secure code.
Exposure to development experience using an agile methodology such as Kanban, Scrum, lean etc.
Good understanding of software engineering concepts and practices

Preferred Qualifications
Software Development
Familiarity with open-source framework including HTML5, JavaScript, Java, Web Services (SOAP, REST), Microservices, Spring etc.
Familiarity with AWS technologies is a plus but not required
Ability to write code in any of these languages Python, Node.JS, React.js, C#/.Net, Java.
Familiarity with Software Development Lifecycle and continuous integration, Test-driven development, and agile, scrum development methodologies
Open to use variety of open-source technologies and cloud services as needed.
Familiarity with ETL processes and tools is a plus.
Skills and experience with debugging, root cause analysis and performance optimization in Cloud, On-Premises or Hybrid platforms.
Preferred Majors: Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Data Science
Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree from Drexel University, with a cooperative learning track.
Available to work 40 hours per week for 6 months starting September 23, 2024 through March 28, 2025.
Available to report in-person to the work location provided above.
3.0 minimum cumulative GPA preferred.

Base Pay: $32.00Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Comcast provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work.
