Equifax is looking for an Insights Analyst to join its Canadian team. As an insight analyst at Equifax, you will work directly with both internal stakeholders and external clients using data and analytics to answer key industry questions and to lead thought leadership on market trends.

The ideal candidate will not only have strong technical experience but demonstrate creativity and inquisitiveness and a proven ability to drive business results with their data-based insights. They must be comfortable working with a wide range of stakeholders and functional teams. The right candidate will have a passion for discovering solutions hidden in large data sets and working with stakeholders to improve business outcomes. You will be working in a fast-paced function where digging to understand the “why” and “so what” is critical.


What you’ll do

  • Working in our cloud environment, leverage statistical techniques, visualization tools and segmentation / modelling techniques to develop scalable insights across multiple credit related topics

  • Leverage advanced techniques to create code that is optimized, efficient, repeatable and scalable

  • Use analytical insights to develop solutions, improved processes and work with counterparts in the business to implement proposed solutions

  • Understand ingestion prioritizations, analyze, understand and prepare complex and new data sources and incorporate them into project design. Acts as a domain and/or technical lead to more junior members

  • Effectively communicate analytical insights to management and business users using storytelling, strong data visualizations, superior presentation skills and business language

  • Ability to talk to impact and strategic importance of findings on the business (either Equifax or external customer) and recommend appropriate course of action; ability to advocate to implementation of solutions and improved processes as well as share the qualitative and quantitative elements to drive value and share the "so what' out of the analysis being performed. 

  • Solve complex internal or customer analytical problems across various business domains and areas of expertise

  • Ensure proper use of Equifax data assets by working closely with data governance and compliance professionals.Quality control of all analytical output

  • Creation of recommendations, market insights and dashboards following completed analysis

  • Develop material and insights for webinars, conferences, white papers and market press release

What experience you need 

  • 3+ years’ analytics / data science experience with expert knowledge of R, Python, SAS or SQL in a large data environment

  • 2+ years experience designing and building analytical solutions to solve real world problems, with limited direct supervision required

  • Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in a quantitative discipline such as Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or Physics (essential)

  • Demonstrable experience in delivering business insights with tangible tactical and strategic recommended actions

  • Solid communication / presentation skills

  • Creativity & idea generation

  • Experience with data visualization tools (Spotfire, Tableau, Qlik) is an asset


What could set you apart

  • Master’s level degree in a business-related field/MBA (preferred)

  • Experience in working with Credit Bureau data

  • Experience working in the consumer / commercial credit or fraud industry 

  • Background in financial services, telecommunications or utilities favourable
