Software Engineer

As a Software Engineer II on our team, you will design and develop systems that will be part of the Azure control plane, using live telemetry and large datasets to analyze and decide on resource management strategies. You will also work with the Azure Systems Research Group to build prediction models for workload understanding and resource oversubscription and collaborate with engineers across Microsoft to ensure the reliability and efficiency of our servers. Responsibilities

• Creates and implements code for a product, service, or feature, reusing code as applicable.
• Maintain communication with key partners across the Microsoft ecosystem of engineers.
• Contribute to efforts to ensure the correct processes are followed to achieve a high degree of security, privacy, safety, and accessibility.
• Contributes to efforts to break down larger work items into smaller work items and provides estimation.
• Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) working on-call to monitor system/product feature/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions and gains approval to restore system/product/service for simple problems.
• Contribute to the identification of dependencies, and the development of design documents for a product area with little oversight.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: 

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C++, C#, Java, or Python.
  
  • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional / Preferred Qualifications:

• 2+ years of cloud infrastructure development experience.
  
• Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code in C#.
  
• Experience in analyzing and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.
  
• Experience in critical production online service environments.
