Role: Staff Data Engineer
Location: Bangalore-Manyata Tech Park (Hybrid)
Business & Team
Financial Crime Technology (FCT) are accountable for build & maintenance of Technology Services to fulfil the Group's Financial Crime Regulatory & Compliance Obligations.

Technology Team is responsible for the world leading application of technology and operations across every aspect of CommBank, from innovative product platforms for our customers to essential tools within our business. We also use technology to drive efficient and timely processing, an essential component of great customer service.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Understand our customers core business objectives.
- Lead and participate in the definition, execution and communication of technical solution.
- Cooperate with business, security and operational teams to ensure adherence to company guidelines, restrictions and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Participate in agile ceremonies.
- Adhere to the Code of Conduct.
- Produce high quality, right-fit solutions to meet business requirements.
- Role model DevSecOps mindset in the team by applying continuous improvements, test automation, continuous deployments and taking ownership of your work.
- Contributor to delivery planning, providing guidance to ensure that technical deliveries are aligned to Group engineering practices.
- Coaching and mentoring of other team members.
- Creation and keeping up to date of knowledge management.
Essential Skills:
- 7-10+ years in software / system / data engineering
- Successfully completed several high complexity Ab Initio projects.
- Designed and implemented CI/CD pipelines that are compatible with Ab Initio products.
- Hands-on development experience with various Ab Initio components, such as Rollup, Scan, Join, Partition by Key, Partition by Round Robin, Gather, Merge, Interleave, Lookup etc.
- Extensive knowledge in unit testing, root cause analysis, optimisation of Ab Initio.
- Integrated with event-driven architecture, such as continuous flow development experience with Kafka.
- Experience working with cloud such as AWS; understand AWS terminology.
- Experience setting up Ab Initio platform including administration of Control Centre, Auth Gateway, BRE, and EME.
- Developed with relational databases and worked with SQL queries, stored procedures, and database triggers.
Mandatory skills, requirements:
- Ab Initio development and administration
- Advance SQL
- At least one programming language (Python, Java, .Net, Shell)
- Problem management – advanced conceptual, analytical, and programming-solving, root cause analysis, post-mortems
- Incident management – analysing logs, understand the difference between returning a service to operational level vs fixing the root cause.
- AWS Cloud Practitioner certification
- Self-starter, autonomous working
- Agile practices – grooming user stories, estimation, retrospectives etc.
- Strong interpersonal & communication skills.
- Self-improvement – strong interest in learning.
- At least 1 end-to-end CI/CD set of tools. (i.e. TeamCity with Octopus, Jenkins)
- Leadership qualities
Desirable:
- Written CloudFormation templates
- Customer data domain knowledge
- Ab Initio Co>Relate
- NoSQL (e.g. Redis)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
