Data Engineer- Search and Recommendations

We are looking for a Data Engineer for the SoundCloud Music Discovery (Search and Recommendation) group with a mission to help users find and play what they’re looking for and enable them to discover great, new music that exists nowhere else. In the role you will be working in a multidisciplinary team of engineers, analysts and scientists focused on exploring, designing, building, and deploying state-of-the-art Machine Learning algorithms with a focus on delivering high-accuracy music search and recommendation at scale. You will design data structures and pipelines feeding training and running ML algorithms. You will be responsible for the high availability and consistent quality of our services through the design and development of automated testing and monitoring. We care much more about your general engineering skills and positive attitude towards getting things done than any prior knowledge of a particular language or framework. 

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience. 
• Experience with building production-ready data pipelines and ETL processes
• Practical experience in deploying ML solutions to production (on a public cloud) with demonstrable real business impact
• Good proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, Scala, or Go
• Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle (design, coding, unit testing, code reviews etc.)
• Solid foundations of algorithms and data structures
• Solid communication skills and enjoyment working as a part of a cross-functional, solutions oriented team

Bonus Points if you have:

• Experience working in AI/ML and up-to-date with recent advances in the field
• Previous experience working on search and recommendation systems in the music or entertainment industry
• Knowledge of basic machine learning concepts and frameworks
• A love for music
