Data Engineer
Location: Thorpe Park, Leeds, Hybrid working.
Now let's talk about your role:
As a Data Engineer you will be responsible for maintaining, governing, and growing the Overdales MI and database infrastructure, utilising your expertise of SQL and Power BI environments.
You will maximise the use of data, visualisations, reporting and automation within Overdales to understand and influence business strategy & both operational and business performance.
You will work closely with other leaders within Overdales and across our UK Group to provide information, insights, and forecasts, supporting a positive culture for our people, our clients, and our customers.
Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
Data, MI & Analytics
- Ensuring the integrity of all data within the SQL data warehouse, Qliksense & Power BI environments.
- Managing the ETL processes within SQL and SSIS to populate and grow the data warehouse.
- Designing, building, and maintaining infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data.
- Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, developing champion challenges to drive business success etc.
- Advanced independent analytical skills, with evidence, identifying trends and opportunities to improve our business.
- Proven track record of working with large datasets, meeting (and exceeding) stakeholder requirements for complex data interrogation, and presentation requests.
- Providing multiple solutions to resolve live and/or potential challenges, maximising business performance, and implement with limited to no oversight (post sign off) providing detailed evidence of success.
- Provide insightful, data driven MI transforming complex information, so all stakeholders have a strong understanding of the desired output.
Governance & Controls
- Lead in understanding and adherence to all regulatory requirements for the role (OFCOM, FCA, SRA, OFGEM etc).
- Ensuring all processes remain compliant and auditable.
- Ensuring regular reviews are undertaken for access & permission levels to systems within line of control.
- Supporting the training and front-line support to all colleagues for systems in line of control.
- Lead crisis management with intermediate/advanced knowledge of IT infrastructure to enable prompt resolution.
- Encourages and drives an atmosphere of continuous improvement.
- Manage Risks and Control framework ensuring all risks are known, raised, and managed in a timely manner.
- New starters have appropriate system access granted and provided in a timely manner.
- Lead in ensuring systems are operational in line with agreed internal and external regulatory requirements.
- Availability for support out of hours testing, critical trouble shooting, and issue resolution either planned or at short notice.
What we need from you:
- Intermediate level or above with SQL and Power BI.
- Comfortable with large data sets.
- Experience working with stakeholders.
- To be a good story teller and able to interpret data.
- A good analytical mindset.
- Experience with Qlik Sense is an advantage.
