Strategic Analytics is a growing team at Arch. The team develops innovative predictive models and analytical tools to improve profitability and growth. Advanced analytics techniques play a critical role in this mission. To be successful, we need to develop powerful models, tools, and insights that give Arch a unique, competitive advantage.

Our growing organization is seeking a Strategic Analytics Director to join the Analytics team to focus on our growing Middle Market segment. As a Strategic Analytics Director, you’ll work on high-profile analytics projects that drive the company’s decision-making and strategy. You will be a valued partner, helping the team define the best metrics to measure success and evaluate experiments that will meaningfully drive growth as we partner with our business stakeholders. As a key member of the Strategic Analytics team, you will help advance our analytics capabilities and shape how Arch thinks about data and analytics.



Responsibilities

  • Strategic Analytics is an implementation focused team. You will work to establish strong relationships with business partners to understand the problems they are trying to solve and work to implement the best-suited analytics solutions.

  • Collaborate in cross-functional teams and share ideas to solve complex business problems.

  • Build strong partnerships with peers across the organization to support project goals and broader team needs.

  • Develop powerful insights and tools using a variety of analytical techniques and technologies.

  • Take responsibility for projects from conception to completion, with guidance from Strategy & Innovation Leadership and strong collaboration with business unit stakeholders.

  • Discover, explore, and analyze internal and external datasets for the purpose of developing robust analytics solutions.

  • Advance the analytics team practices, processes, and documentation and continue to enhance existing tools and infrastructure in partnership with the data engineering, data visualization, and data science teams.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in analytics role

  • Bachelor’s degree in statistics, actuarial science, mathematics, engineering or similar quantitative fields; or significant experience in data analytics.

Desired Skills/Experience:

  • P/C insurance, preferably commercial lines.

  • Strong SQL skills.

  • Evidence of analytical skills, problem solving, business acumen, and strong critical thinking.

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills; ability to convey complex concepts to people across the organization.

  • Exceptional teamwork skills required to play a key role in cross-functional teams; ability to collaborate and build trusting relationships with business partners.

  • Natural curiosity to understand the world around you and question as needed.

  • Comfortable handling ambiguous concepts and breaking down complex problems into manageable pieces.

  • Demonstrated execution and organization skills – task management, time management, and project management.

  • Experience with other technical tools such as R, Python, and visualization tools such as Power BI is a plus.

  • Data analytics experience in mining, analyzing, and interpreting data through various statistical techniques.

For individuals assigned or hired to work in California, Colorado, Hawaii, Jersey City, NJ; New York State; and/or Washington State, the base salary range is listed below. This range is as of the time of posting. Position is incentive eligible.

$115,000 - $200,000/year

  • Total individual compensation (base salary, short & long-term incentives) offered will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to geographic location, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications, talent availability & specialization as well as business needs.  The above range may be modified in the future
