Role Impact:

The Sustainability Data Analyst will be a key member of Cadillac Fairview’s Sustainability Team. The Analyst will have the opportunity to positively impact our industry, our properties, and the communities in which we live and work, through executing on data processes and providing strong data quality to support internal and external reporting, operational efficiencies, budgeting, and decision-making across our industry-leading portfolio. The individual in the role will:

  1. Optimize and implement internal data reporting processes for collection and reporting on ESG and sustainability metrics.
  2. Analyze feedback, performance data, resources, and inputs to ensure data quality.
  3. Report on sustainability performance trending and sustainability data indicators.
  4. Work with stakeholders for implementation of cross-departmental projects as they relate to program data.
  5. Support sustainability reporting, data assurance and verification processes with internal and external auditors.

    

What you will deliver:

The key responsibilities include but are not limited to:  

  • Accelerate progress towards CF’s sustainability and emissions targets through advanced use of the sustainability data management platform for the collection, analysis and verification of data including energy and water efficiency, waste diversion, and emissions reductions.
  • Manage and maintain large amounts of high-quality sustainability data, including utility data across systems and databases, ensuring clean and consistent data to drive performance and meet required collection and quality assurance standards.
  • Support the research and analysis for reporting process mapping and make suggestions for use-cases to streamline organizational data flow.
  • Analyze performance data outliers and trends, investigate, and resolve data quality issues.
  • Leverage documentation and perform supporting calculations to respond to queries from internal audit and third-party assurance
  • Execute on data sharing processes for property sustainability targets, certifications such as LEED, Energy Star, and client & regulatory reporting. Supervise account onboarding process and maintain account allocations to ensure database integrity
  • Investigate opportunities to optimize processes and reduce manual efforts through sharing internal data across systems. Recommend process improvements to ensure data quality.
  • Perform benchmarking and research to support sustainability programs, target setting and analytics
  • Analyze organizational data flow processes for reporting efficiencies.
  • Support other sustainability programs and processes as required

  • Ability to take initiative and proactively provide suggestions, solutions and thought leadership to team members
  • Ability to work with data management systems for sustainability reporting and certifications
  • Strong skills in data quality and performance analysis, design of tracking systems, and ability to interpret sustainability KPIs, to drive improved performance.
  • Quickly build credibility and partner productively with internal stakeholders
  • Excellent organizational, priority and time management skills

 

What you need to succeed:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Data Systems, Business Finance or Environmental Management
  • 2 to 4 years of relevant experience in sustainability data analytics, programming, and/or utilities management, preferably in real estate or related industry
  • High computer literacy with good working knowledge of Google Workspace, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Tableau/PowerBI. Smartsheet or equivalent Project Management software is a plus.
  • Understanding of standard database structure and best practices for database management is an asset
  • Ability to interpret and work with computer programming languages (i.e., SQL, Python, Google Apps Script) is an asset
