Global Sports Quantitative Analyst

Role Overview

Joining us for a 12 month Fixed Term Contract, the Global Sports Quants team is a core function within the Global Trading Team, part of the Flutter Group. We are responsible for developing and maintaining sophisticated predictive models in the areas of sports modelling, risk management and trading automation, to service the many Flutter brands globally.

The team uses mathematics, statistics, and machine learning methods to provide automated solutions to scale up and improve the pricing, trading, and risk management of Global Sports.

As a Global Sports Quantitative Analyst, you will bring your analytical and innovative mindset to the team and contribute to the modelling capabilities which power sports betting opportunities for millions of Flutter customers.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

• Collaborate in the development of new and existing predictive models to generate accurate pricing and effective risk management decisions.
• Display a proficiency in quantitative analysis techniques and provide insightful viewpoints on a broad range of problems across the group.
• Support the implementation of the real-world application of our statistical models, from inception, development, delivery, and performance monitoring.
• Work with stakeholders in areas such as Trading, Technology, Product and Data to solve a broad range of technical problems across the Flutter group.
• Learn and develop new technical skills as required, to contribute to team growth and share knowledge with the wider Flutter group.
• Become a central contributor to the ambitious, energetic, and development-focussed atmosphere within the team. Give due regard to the importance of creating a positive working environment for colleagues. Display an active interest in being a positive contributor to the core ethos within the team.

Skills, Capabilities & Experience Required

• Third-level or postgraduate qualification in a quantitative or analytic discipline such as Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Actuarial Science, etc. High achievements in Mathematics/Statistics a distinct advantage.
• Excellent understanding of predictive modelling techniques including simulation and analytic-based methods.
• Probabilistic thinker with a strong numerical and technical skillset which facilitates high-quality, efficient, and comprehensive analysis.
• Ability to query, cleanse, manipulate and analyse large structured and unstructured datasets. (e.g. SQL databases)
• Proficient programming skills and understanding of statistical tools and software packages. (e.g. Python, R, Excel)
• Experience with cloud-based platforms and tooling such as AWS an advantage.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to cater to relevant audiences.
