Flow Traders is looking for a Graduate Quantitative Researcher to join our growing trading team in Hong Kong. This is a unique opportunity to join a leading proprietary trading firm, working alongside some of the brightest minds in the industry.

A successful Quantitative Researcher is analytically curious and seeks to provide their quantitative expertise to our trading desks. The ideal candidate must have a firm aptitude for probability and statistics, loves to work with numbers, has a strong research acumen, and is comfortable with programming and data analysis.

Starting as a graduate, you will have the opportunity to learn about the financial products that we trade and gain a practical understanding of how mathematics is at the core of our business. You will receive extensive mentoring, have access to best-in-class research and data resources, and be given the responsibility to make material contributions to the firm very early on into your career.

While financial markets knowledge is not a prerequisite, you should have an innate desire to take a structured, analytical, and optimisation-oriented approach to whatever it is that you spend your time on. Many of our quants and traders have hobbies in the areas of sports, strategic games, AI, technology etc; and have been able to exhibit how they have applied their quantitative aptitude and research skills in these areas.

What you will do

  • Collaborate with Traders and Quantitative Researchers to build, test and optimize current trading models and create new and improved trading strategies
  • Research and analyse large financial, and alternative datasets to identify patterns
  • Design and implement complex quantitative models
  • Keeping up to date with novel findings in both Academia and Industry, and discussing/debating concepts with the broader Trading team

What you will need to succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Computer Science or other relevant STEM field
  • Experience with a scientific programming language (e.g. Python / MATLAB / R or similar), Python is preferred.
  • Experience with JAVA and/or C ++ (or similar) is an advantage
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to easily manipulate large datasets
  • Strong mathematical and statistical modelling skills
  • Ability to reason logically, deliver under pressure and take ownership
  • Competitive attitude, eager to learn, proactive and able to work in a team
  • Strong Research Acumen
