Educational Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree in remote sensing, physics, geoscience, computer science, or mathematics.


Work Experience:

  • At least 5+ years of relevant experience in remote sensing data analysis, image processing, and/or hyperspectral data analysis.
  • 5-8 years in industry, working with USG; direct USG experience
  • Experience working with hyperspectral imagery.
  • Proven experience in satellite image analysis, remote sensing, and image processing.
  • Experience working with intelligence community or DoD or supporting efforts
  • Experience in analyzing a variety of use cases for space based remote sensing. This includes the tasking, collection, processing, exploitation, and dissemination of geospatial data (GEOINT).
  • Experience in imagery analysis with Python, Matlab, R, Envi/IDL, or similar.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work independently or collaboratively and communicate with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Briefing and holding technical discussions and problem-solving sessions with customer in the USG and commercial business communities.
  • Experience in designing, proposal technical development, and presentations and papers dealing with remote sensing and HSI based solutions for a variety of earth observation use cases


Role Description:

The Solution Engineer is a key role in conducting technical examinations based on customer and internal HSI and remote sensing requirements.  This includes imagery collection, solution architecture, and solution development based on customer mission parameters. The SEA will apply technical skills, scientific methodology, and solid subject matter expertise, to design and articulate approaches in proposals, white papers, and technology exchange meetings.  The SE will execute end to end deliveries for business opportunities


Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Provide primary support for Pixxel’s government and public sector customers.
  • Support planning for and execute on USG initiatives and programs where remote sensing assets and data are needed and image processing may be required. This includes supporting ad hoc satellite tasking, spectral band determination, and collection mission results verifications.
  • Work with the tasking and collection teams, image processing team, and delivery teams to develop, validate, implement, solutions that improve quality, utility, and availability of imagery products.
  • Participate in customer-facing technical exchanges (meetings, emails) when SME is needed. This will involve recommending solutions and developing materials for customer sales engagements.
  • Prepare and deliver technical GEOINT papers and presentations for community sponsored GEOINT symposiums, meetings, working groups, and collection exercises.
  • The SE will translate RFP stated problem sets, technology roadmaps, and specifications into technical approach elements employed in proposals.
  • Identify current states of our solution offerings, characterize gaps, and work with the company to align Pixxel with a variety of customer missions and technical needs.
  • Support an evolving IR&D program at Pixxel.


Desirable Skills & Certifications:

  • An active security clearance or current SBI is required.
  • Remote Sensing and GIS certifications (e.g. USGIF, ASPRS, other training) is highly desireable.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills regarding HSI and use case technical topics. (technical writing, charting, and solution designing)
  • Background in Python, C/C++, IDL, MATLAB, Envi, ERDAS IMAGINE, etc. with a focus on image processing and computer vision tools, techniques, and libraries.
  • Strong familiarity with basic photogrammetry and remote sensing technologies as well as GIS.
