Job Description

The Global IT group is seeking a Data Architect to join its team in the Kansas City area.  This person will report to the Data Governance Manager and will have responsibility for improving the quality of data and be instrumental in the migration to a modern data stack.

The Data Architect’s role is to design a modern and scalable data infrastructure and manage data pipelines across the enterprise, while ensuring high levels of data quality, integrity, availability, accuracy, completeness, consistency and privacy.

This role will be part of the Global Information Systems team and will have a strong collaboration with the business operations, accounting, sales and marketing teams. This role will be responsible ensuring our account master data is clean, scalable and trusted.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Identify internal and external data sources collaborating with department heads to determine organizational needs to develop and maintain the data infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with business to eliminate data redundancy
  • Serve as a liaison between Business and Functional areas and technology to ensure that data related business requirements for protecting sensitive data are clearly defined, communicated and well understood and considered as part of operational prioritization and planning
  • Develop & maintain inventory of the enterprise information maps, including authoritative systems, owners
  • Facilitate the development and implementation of data quality standards, data protection standards and adoption requirements across the enterprise
  • Work with the team to aggregate large ERP data sets for use within a Data Warehouse solution
  • Design data models for the data warehouse (data structure, storage, and integration)
  • Identify and translate key business requirements into solutions

Qualifications

  • Develop, design, and optimize complex SQL queries
  • Knowledge of risk data architecture and technology solutions
  • Experience migrating to modern stack solutions.  Snowflake and dbt experience a plus.
  • Expertise with at least one of the following database technologies and familiarity with the others: relational, columnar and NoSQL (i.e. DB2, MySQL, Oracle, MSSQL, Vertica, MongoDB)
  • Understanding of data modelling (i.e. conceptual, logical and physical model design - with both traditional 3rd normal form as well as dimensional modelling, such as star and snowflake)
  • APICS Certification desired (CPIM, CSCP or CFPIM)
  • BA/BS required graduate degree preferred
  • 3-5 years of Data Architect and Business experience preferably in a manufacturing environment

Desired Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of data pipelines into cloud environments (Fivetran, Qlik Replicate/Attunity, Informatica or Talend)
  • Knowledge of Data Science and statistical methodologies
  • Experience with scripting technologies (Python, R, etc.).
  • Experience with a wide variety of business data (Marketing, Finance, Operations, etc.)
  • Experience with Large ERP systems (Oracle JD Edwards Enterprise One, QAD, Info LM, Sage, etc)
  • Additional language skills would be advantageous but not essential (e.g. German, Spanish, Portuguese)
