Leading our data revolution and reporting direct to the CTO, you'll craft our data architecture that fuels our insights and decisions. Leading a team of data analysts, you'll collaborate with engineering, product and wider business teams to create a seamless, powerful data ecosystem that will propel FixMyCar to new heights. This is a remote position, with the expectation that employees will visit the office in Reading approximately once every three months. During the initial weeks, more frequent visits may be required.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain a robust data infrastructure that supports our long-term growth, ensuring seamless data flow and high-performance across all business operations.
  • Leverage data insights to inform and accelerate product development, enabling the creation of innovative solutions that meet market demands and enhance customer experiences.
  • Establish and enforce rigorous data quality standards and governance frameworks to ensure accuracy, integrity, and security across all data processes and assets.
  • Identify and capitalise on opportunities to monetise data, turning FixMyCar's data insights into valuable assets that drive additional revenue streams and market leadership.
  • Stay at the cutting edge of technology by continuously exploring and adopting emerging tools, techniques, and best practices in data engineering, fostering a culture of innovation within the organisation.
  • Mentor and manage a small team of Data Analysts

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in data engineering or a related field
  • Strong commercial and strategic awareness
  • Experience managing a small team
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and data modelling
  • Experience working with big data technologies
  • Proficient in scripting languages such as Python or Scala
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-based data platforms, ideally AWS
  • Experience building and optimising data pipelines and ETL processes
  • Knowledge of data warehouse design and data integration concepts, ideally Redshift
  • Understanding of data governance and security best practices
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience with agile development methodologies
