Do you believe in financial wellbeing as a driver for a better, healthier, more sustainable future?

At AIA we’ve started an exciting movement to create a healthier, more sustainable future for everyone.

It's finding new ways to not only better people's lives, but to better the communities and environments we live. As the largest listed company on the HKSE, we’ve been proudly making a difference across Asia for over a century. And as we look to build on our legacy, we need great Actuaries who want to be part of something bigger than finance alone. Because the better we can nurture our financial wellbeing as an organisation, the better we can support and make a difference for our customers when they need us most. By ensuring our products are well designed and priced, analysing business performance and ensuring proper management of insurance policies in-force, you’re not just safeguarding AIA’s financial wellbeing. You’re securing a better future for the people and communities we serve - today, tomorrow and for generations to come.

If that sounds like you, read on.

The opportunity:

As a Senior Actuarial Analyst, you will be responsible for actuarial support to the business, managing actuarial projects and supporting actuaries in meeting internal and external stakeholder requirements.

In this role you will:

  • Extract, reconcile, manipulate and analyse data and develop insights and results for actuaries, other finance colleagues, and the wider business

  • Produce, document and present value-add insights and results to internal and external stakeholders

  • Communicate and present technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Maintain existing tools, models, systems, processes, methodologies and documentation and proactively contribute to their improvement and development

  • Build and maintain effective relationships across Financial and Actuarial, Product, Customer and Risk, as well as with external partners such as reinsurers

  • Coach, mentor and support the actuarial community within AIA NZ

  • Review work completed by actuarial analysts and other senior actuarial analysts and recommending draft insights and results to actuaries and senior actuaries

  • Regularly sit actuarial exams while maintaining an “approved student” status in accordance with the Actuarial Study conditions.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

  • Strong business acumen and ability to deal with ambiguity

  • Proven ability to apply a mixture of analysis, experience and judgement to solve complex business problems

  • Confidence to think and work independently and challenge assumptions, processes and results

  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of theory and practice across at least one aspect of actuarial work (e.g. experience investigations, pricing, valuations, solvency and capital management, reinsurance, predictive modelling etc.)

  • Strong technical skills including software skills (including AIA systems, SQL, MS Office package, Prophet Suite, SAS, Python and R) and analytical skills

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage with non-actuarial stakeholders and business partners

  • A tertiary qualification with quantitative background (e.g., mathematics, statistics or engineering)

  • Strong financial services industry experience (ideally life or health insurance, but other financial services experience will be also considered).
