Safe Intelligence - this forms the core brand of the Fraunhofer Institute for Cognitive Systems IKS. Connected cognitive systems drive innovation in many sectors, including mobility, healthcare, and automation in industry. What you will do

Digitalization in the healthcare sector increases in importance and may allow more efficient processes, e.g., helping to mitigate personal shortage. On the medical side, digital health may lead to advance better diagnostics, treatments and prognostics options.

 

At Fraunhofer IKS we research to advance algorithms for data-efficient and explainable medical imaging (https://safe-intelligence.fraunhofer.de/en/articles/concept-based-models-how-visual-concepts-help-to-understand-an-ais-decision and https://safe-intelligence.fraunhofer.de/en/articles/quantum-computing---advancing-medical-diagnostics-with-quantum-powered-ai), to optimize processes in the healthcare domain via clever AI algorithms (https://safe-intelligence.fraunhofer.de/en/articles/healthcare-hackathon-2023-ai-and-hospital-workforce-planning), to assist in medical decisions, and in verifying and validating AI algorithms.

 

Support us in this research as junior research scientist, actively shaping the research program. Collaborate with world-leading scientists, as well as with renown industry partners. Your results will come alive in products of leading companies, and thereby you will achieve an active contribution to a safe future.

 

What you bring to the table

  • Master’s degree in computer science, mathematics, medicine or similar.
  • Knowledge in AI methods and in statistical analysis.
  • Strong interest and dedication to apply data science methods for concrete products in the healthcare sector.
  • Programming experience (e.g. Python, C/C++, etc.).
  • Communication and cooperation skills.
  • Highly motivated with an independent way of working and a critical thinking mindset.
  • Good language skills in German (C1) and English (C1).

The weekly working time is 39 hours. This position is also available on a part-time basis.
